He said on the ebay listing that he would do that if he was forced to. They knew it going in.
Wow folks, educate yourselves before you go on a rant. That was an important part of the deal. The sponsors knew what they were getting. No one ripped anyone off.
NO! THEY DID GET RIPPED OFF. Regardless of what was known if Symmonds being the conniving jerk that he normally is was well aware that something like this would happen then he should never have put that dopey attention seeking add to begin with. Symmonds is essentially getting free money for what, a white strip on his arm!??! ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME!?!? He has a moral obligation to give back the money and also a whole lot of other money for being a cry baby b*tch knuckelhead.
Dude seriously. Best troll ever. You get the best of me every time! You're like so good at riling people up without making it obvious. Kudos.
Okay, I realize I am a little old and am not the target audience, but the music on those Sydney Track Classic videos is pretty much the worst crap I've ever heard.
+1 to stuck with match.com for bringing back "knucklehead."

stupid overhyped and overrated hack like symmonds.
if being overhyped and overrated means my 800 PR is 1:43.76 and i have a handful of US titles and appearances in major global championship finals, plus the added bonus of looking good and living in a liberal college town, THEN SIGN ME UP!
He is promising to display the ad during his entire racing season, which includes stops in Australia and Monaco before heading to London for the Olympics.
There are some catches, however. Restrictions by track's governing body, the IAAF, would force Symmonds to cover up his tattoo during certain races. However, he pledges to show off the tat and mention the sponsor by name in all postrace interviews.
Similarly, Symmonds is reserving the right to refuse a corporate winner if he disagrees with the quality of their products or it conflicts with his existing sponsors.
Bidding began at $14.95 (the cost of the temporary tattoo) but at last glance, the bidding was nearing $2,000.
read the fine print...

Yeah, the sponsor was well aware that this could happen:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fUCFmQivTi8Besides, he got idiots like you talk about it when it's covered up...so even covered up it's still getting attention...and isn't that what marketing is about?
Alright. I'm officially OFF the Nick Symmonds bandwagon. IS KD still racing? If not, GO TYLER MULDER!

Agreed!
Selling advertising on your body when you are a serious Olympic quality athlete is a douche bag move. It cheapens the sport. I'm off the Nick Symmonds bandwagon too. If this is accepted going forward, all runners will now have "Go Daddy" or something similar printed on their arms, legs, forehead etc.
Although I would approve of Nick wearing a "Massengill" tattoo which makes me a total hypocrite. It just fits him right now. Guilty as charged...
what? someone hates nick symmonds...for what? because he's trying to make a living?
For those who don't know, the430miler is stuck with match.com.
And count me on the Nick Symmonds bandwagon!
Dude is trying to make a living while also fighting the establishment (USATF/IAAF). What do you do to put bread on the table?
