Anyone tried these out yet? Curious to see how people like the new 8mm drop compared to the older version.

I like them a lot. Even lighter and the fit is better. Plus I think the 8 mm drop is perfect.
Ditto,
These things rock. Upper fits a tad bit better and the 8mil drop makes it about the perfect shoe.
Great shoe. More like 10mm drop though
re the fit - is it narrower?
I don't think so. Same last just a lower heel drop. And it's 8mm not 10.
Does it still run a half size big?
Is this shoe an addition to the 890 line or will it replace the 890?

Running Warehouse says to go a half size small and Road Runner says to buy a half size up. Can anyone settle this?
the 890v2s are the absolute bomb. new favorite shoe from a guy who has tried just about everything. slight tweaks to the original were perfect, just enough but not too much. about 8.5 ounces. i would suggest your normal running shoe size, im usually a 10 and the 10 fits me perfect. smoother ride, not quite as squishy as the first version, feels slightly more responsive. all around great shoe. New Balance is really starting to make some kick ass stuff. for those of you who enjoy a little more cushion, the new 1080v2s are pretty damn boss too. 10.5 ounces for a high cushion shoe, lightest of all high-end cushioning shoes, and they look fresh too.
The 1080v2's are a decent shoe, but WAY OVER PRICED! This should be their $100 cushion shoe, definitely not worth the suggested price of $135. Yes, the shoe is light, but it has also been stripped of the cushion of a high-end neutral cushion shoe. This shoe has never stood a chance in the high-end neutral cushion category, and it got a little further away with this one. New Balance knows that it cannot come close to the Nimbus, Glycerin, Triumph, Creation, and Vomero. The fact that they have to drastically change the shoe every single year says it all. Good attempt, but it would have been even better at the $100 price point.
890v2 is widened, making it fit slightly shorter than its predecessor. The fit is overall improved, with the 8MM drop making a big improvement. Overall shoe is 120% better than the first.

Would you recommend going a half size down then?
Mine are true to size. I don't think the forefoot is wider.
Not a 8mm drop. It's like 9.43mm. But still sweet. I wear a 9.5 normally. I'm wearing a 9.5 in the 890v2. A tad longer then I normally wear, but a 9 would be too tight.
I got these yesterday and ran an easy 10 in them today.
I like the new drop. Its not retarded in either direction. Very good porridge. The guys at Fleet Feet guaranteed me that there was no change in the drop. They said the shoe just feels flatter. Idiots. Plain. And. Simple. I don't care how fast they are.
The fit is the same as the v1 for me. I wear a 9.5 in street shoes and consistently wear 10.5 in NB. Maybe its a tiny bit more narrow by 1/32 of an inch. But since I didn't get blisters I can't complain. It is secure with pleasant give.
Compare the fit to the 1400? Well, its not as long in the arch so for me the arch ends in the right place. The 1400's arch runs a tiny bit long and ends about 1/8 of an inch into the pad before my big toe. I got horrendous blisters on my right arch within the first mile I ran in the 1400. After that they were a dream. Maybe it was just the insole.
Compare the fit to the Kinvara 2? I think the fit is almost the same. Like. A. Glove. Why don't I wear the Kinvra 2? Too soft. Knee. Problems. To the tune of Runner's. Knee. Period.
They are very good porridge in terms of soft/hard. The v2 is softer then, let's say the Minimus Road, but its harder then the Kivara 2. That should make some sense to you.
Price? Well, $110 is a bit much, but since I don't have to suffer a week of blister recovery I will say the price is acceptable because the fit is so good.
Overall, these are great shoes IF your feet agree with NB lasts. A good in-between traditional/minimal everyday trainer that rides a fine line between soft/firm.
That's my opinion anyway.
I got mine today but am a bit disappointed by the narrowness. Haven't run in them yet but they feel a bit narrower than my v1s. Worried they may too narrow for me. Tried on my (very broken in) 890v1's die by side and v1s feel noticeably wider to me. I may try the EE version of the v2s if the D width doesn't work out.
