If I am running a half marathon, and I am averaging 7:30 min./mile, should I wear my regular Nike Pegasus trainers or should I invest in a pair of flats or road racers. If so, what shoes would you recommend? Thanks in advance.

Wow seriously screw you; it was a perfectly candid question. I have never run a half before and I fully recovered from walking pneumonia a few months ago, and I am running my first half marathon in about a month, jerk. I hope you get syphilis.
Bump. Some help here please?
I would stick with the Pegasus
I've worn the Brooks Green Silence in two half marathons, including one where a few miles of the course were on trails and dirt roads, and they worked well for me. I also used them for most of my training runs leading up to my most recent half marathon. If you try flats, I recommend using them for some longer training runs ahead of time to make sure you feel comfortable with them and they'll work for you over a longer distance. Good luck.
Are your shorter distance event times much faster than your projected 7:30 pace for the half marathon? Personally, I would just run the half marathon in trainers if I were doing it at 7:30 pace. I don't think its worth using flats unless you can get in the top 10 or so at somewhat big races. I would only start getting flats if I were running the half at 6 minute pace or faster. Of course, its your decision to use them or not; the performance edge may be worth it to you.

While I would agree that the pegasus trainers are probably perfectly fine for a first half marathon (at any pace), this is an a-hole way to say it. You guys are such elitist douchebags. It never ceases to amaze me.
