The LunarGlide+ 2 has been one of the best shoes I have ever worn. Really looked forward to the updated model. Noticed that they changed the way the midfoot is wrapped up around the lacing. Nike said it was to secure the shoe better to the foot. I bought into that and ordered a pair. The new style is simply unusable for me. The soft plastic piece that is hooked into the lacing goes right across my navicular bone and causes pain. At 60+, I am dealing with a bit of arthritis, as it is. So I ended up returning them.
Now, I have noticed that Nike is putting this kind of strap in most of their Lunar series updates. Apparently the flywire concept is out the window. What's interesting is that they have still retained the flywire in the Pegasus series and the Zoom Structure. Why they canned it for the Lunar series, I don't know. Fortunately, for me, the update for the LunarFly+ 3 doen't change the shoe's upper structure much. It didn't have the flywire to begin with.
I noticed the ad in LetsRun for East Bay and ventured over to their site. They still had the LG+ 2's on clearance. The LetsRun discount code didn't work, but maybe that's because they were marked down to begin with. Anyway, I ordered 2 pair.
So, maybe the LunarGlide+ 3 will be a great shoe for you. But try them on, first, and lace them down tight enough to see how they feel.
