I only use earbuds/ipod on the treadmill because it is so damn boring but if I'm charging through some intervals, they tend to start sliding around. Is there a good brand that stays snug in the ear?

I like the sennheiser sport headphones

Agreed, I have a pair of these.
http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-MX85-Sport-Twist-Earbuds/dp/B001GSZAF0/ref=sr_1_91?ie=UTF8&qid=1323713692&sr=8-91They work great and stay in while running without any problems.
I used to run with music. I don't anymore. I never had any issues with the in-ear models. My problem was that sweat sneaked into the little hole of one of the buds and ruined it. That happened a couple of times so I just dumped it all together. It sucks trying to listen to music with one bud.
Go with the $20 in-ear models at target or wal-mart.

I've heard those are the best.
I just use the ipod ones but I add a layer of athletic tape to the edges and that makes them fit really snugly.
For some reason some brands just do not fit my ears. They would be fine if I were just walking around, but they fall out in a second if I run...
Yeah, that is why you only rent the earbuds. Buy some crappy earbuds with the plastic band that goes behind the ears. I had a $100 pair that I ruined last week, bought a pair for $13.99 at the airport (JVC sport model, something like that) that seem to work well enough.
I also had a $50 pair that I bought at Sports Authority; I lost the ear bud for this one somehow. they are all crap, so you should just buy the cheapos like you said...
Thanks for the tips! Sennheiser sounds like the brand of choice. I'm now looking at the CX380 model http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-CX380-Sport-Isolating-Earbuds/dp/B001GSX7R8/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1323728137&sr=8-2 because they come with adjustable ear pieces. I had a set of iPod buds but they wouldn't stay put during intervals and sweat was a problem.
Not only are earbuds ridiculously expensive, they also continously fall out of my ears. This is what I wear instead and the price is right http://store.sony.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langId=-1&partNumber=MDRW08L.
Go see your specialty running store and they will recommend Yurbuds. Great product that won't fall out or hurt your ears and they are designed to allow in ambient noise so that you can be safe and hear what's going on around you. Sweat proof to boot.
Interesting! I didn't even know Sony still made those! I tried to find some and gave up, eventually going with this set:

So far, they're working well. I'm a pretty heavy sweater and with past headphones I've had them seem to get "sealed" from the sweat so that they don't work on a run, but this pair seems like it might be a good design where that won't happen. They loop around my ears and don't sit too tightly in the ear so there is a little play. They do feel a little annoying with suglasses and I think I would prefer that old school Sony over the head style again (which, if it's what I had been using, had served me for about 7 years).
Dude, scrap the earbuds with cords dangling everywear and ipods strapped to your arm. There's a better way.
Buy headphones like these

Plug in a shuffle, wrap the wire around the top of the headphones and clip the ipod onto the top itself. No wires, and the headphones cover your whole ear and stay on better. The shuffle also stays sweat free. I had a couple quit working because they got too much moisture in them.

I had those but the ear bud fell out. the thing that connects behind the ear is nothing great either.
my earbuds would fall out a lot and my ears would hurt after a 1/2 hour of using them. This is a neat trick to make custom earbud tips for your earbuds. They will stay in place and are very comfortable.

I like Yurbubs, but you might want to use the smaller set of buds. The big ones are for big people with big ear canals. But i like the remote device where you can advance/go back on the music and +- the volume, takes a little getting used to but it beats having your iPod/device out and less prone to battery usage and wear. These are designed by a former Ironman athlete.

All of you keep talking about buds. These are the sennheiser sport headphones that "Not Buds" was talking about. Worn around the back of your neck, the pressure keeps them on your head. No slippage at all and you barely notice they are on.

The wrap around ones or normal nonbud style usually dont fit where i wear shades. Just something to consider.
I've been trying to find the earbuds that wrap behind the ear and the cords runs down the back. I think apple makes them but they're pricey. Some of the other ones I've seen are also noise cancelling which I don't want. Anyone have any suggestions?
Try Yurbuds. I just learned about them this past week while reading the Running Times Ryan Bak interview. I guess he is the west coast rep for them. I then just saw them for the first time at my local running store yesterday and checked 'em out. They look pretty darn good.
