As someone mentioned on the Chiba thread, Australian Harry Summers ran 28:59 for 10 km on the road yesterday at the Int'l Chiba Ekiden wearing Vibrams. Pic:
Is this the best performance ever in Vibrams?

I know a Kenyan that went 27:20 barefoot.
Um, how about the numerous barefoot, superior performances?
He is no Jason Rexing!!
ummmm...... ever heard of jordan hasay?
A real man would do it in high heels.
Moron, the OP asked whether this is the fastest performance in Vibrams. I'll admit I don't care one way or another, but your comments about barefoot running do NOT answer the question. It would be like if I said I ran 28:11 wearing a dress and asked if this is the fastest performance by a runner wearing a dress and you replied, "what about my naked 27:44?" Learn to think before you post...
No it is not the fastest a couple of kenyans have tried them out and did tempo runs in the 2810-2830 range

Joseph Kimani did in Cleveland on May 5, 1996.

You might want to send the IAAF an email then so they can update their list.

Plenty have have gone faster, but none have gone 27:20.
Hillary Kimaiyo ran 26:01 in El Paso.

27:20.44 Patrick Ivuti KEN 30.06.78 Sydney 25.09.2000
27:20.89 Ismael Kirui KEN 20.02.75 Hengelo 30.05.1999
It's amusing to see posts by the young ones on people running well in shoes that were common 50 years ago - minus the 5 toes.
Sort of like kids discovering vinyl records sound better.
At the Philly marathon last week the first vibram wearer was closely followed by the second. They were both fat and in the 330 range. Solid. No one good runs in Vibrams.

Wow, man, you mean Vibrams have been around 50 years? I've never heard that before. You really know your stuff.
No matter how fast you run in Vibrams, you're still a jackass.
Coincidentally, the January issue of Courir arrived this morning. The inside front cover is a two-page ad for what looks like Adidas' Vibram rip-off, the "Adipure Trainer." Five toes and all. Maybe Summers was wearing these.
