I need a new watch. I've been looking on runningwarehouse for some. Does anyone have preferences timex or soleus and why? I kind of like the looks of the soleus watches on there but I want to be sure they're decent quality

Timex Ironman 50 lap watch is functional and cheap. you can usually find them on Amazon for @ 30$ and they last a bunch of years.
Soleus watches are very good. The same company that made Nike's watches is behind Soleus. There have been some quality control improvements though which is a positive.
I hate the newest Timex watch that has a touch screen start and lap splits. If I move my arm in a certain way (without the face touching anything else, as far as I can tell), it starts a new lap. At the end of every run, I always have at least 3-4 lap splits that I never hit.
I also the hate the last Timex sleek watch because the face pops out of the band and not in a good way. I sent one back for a replacement, and the next one lasted less than 6 months.
Maybe time for a new watch brand.
The Soleus 2.0 collection is fantastic! Their color schemes are awesome and watch quality is top notch!! I know you said no GPS but I heard that they are launching a $99 GPS watch in October that not only tracks speed and distance, but calories burned as well! Check out www.soleusrunning.com, good stuff!!
lol paid to advertise much?
LOL if it's the truth it's the truth!
Polar RS200 is legit. So is the RS300.
How about this one?
Big fan of Soleus. Have been wearing the 13.1 for the last couple of years - looks great, not too big, and works as advertised. Far superior to the one Timex I tried, where the band broke in the first 5 days of wear.....
If you're looking for a new watch (that isnt GPS), you dont really need to look far. For what I look for in a watch, is a timer (obviously), lap splits (up to 10, i really dont need anything above that. If im in a race i dont need to take lap splits every lap), possibly an alarm.
Timex watches will do all of that, with the bonus of being cheap. Seriously, you dont need to spend 50 dollars at Dick's or REI, or any other store to get a watch that will do that. I went to Dick's Sporting goods, saw a black timex watch with the above functions, 45 dollars. Later (2 months), i went to a walmart and saw the exact same watch for 15 dollars (not on sale or anything).
ONLY problem with timex, if you buy a watch with a hing for the straps, soetimes they will break after much use (1-2 years in my case). So, the other option is using a slim velcro watch.
Here's a link to google shopping for a generic, velcro timmex watch:
.
Try eBay, or go to walmart for rock bottom prices.
I wouldn't get the velcro strap because they pick up odor after a while.
I had that exact Timex. Liked it. Great value but the band smelled.
Have a Soleus 262 now and it's fine. Wish the night light were a bit brighter and there's always a transition buttons (I run a lot in the dark).
Another plus is the slightly larger face of the Soleus is a bit more manly.
I'll definitely be looking for their $99 GPS watch.
