Every California high-schooler.
I never wore anything other than flats for cross country and track. They were just much more comfortable to me, and I never noticed a significant enough difference from flats to spikes to consider switching.
I always wore the Nike Katanas, which are marathon flats.
Are spikes allowed at Stanford?
I seem to remember seeing people wearing spikes at Stanford, so that may have been an exception. I'm not even sure if it's an enforced rule, it's just that so many courses have significant stretches of asphalt or concrete that no one ever wears spikes. And it pretty much never rains enough for traction to be an issue.
