Give me opinions on Garmin 210 w/ HR versus Nike
I don't really use a HR that much, but it's on there. More interested in just regular GPS functionality. Price will work out about the same, so that's not the issue.

I have a Garmin watch and love it (very, very accurate). It does not have the HR but the GPS is awesome! I am older and love not having to drive the route to get a distance.
I had the Nike Fit shoe thingy and it was not accurate at all.
Yeah, not Nike+, the newer actual GPS Nike Sport watch.

I have had the Nike sport watch for about a month now and I like it but it's not very accurate. To top it off, it stopped syncing with Nike+ and now I can't download my workouts into my log on Nike+ and I have to return it. I'm hoping my unit is just defective.
So here's the deal...never had a Garmin but the Nike Sportwatch loses the GPS signal under any tree coverage....if you go through a small grouping of trees, you'll go from 6 min pace to 12 min pace. In conjunction with the foot pod it's better but doesn't always calibrate correctly. For example, I did an hour run that I know I was running around 7 min per mile pace and when I finished it said I ran 2.55 miles (with the foot pod). I'll use mapmyrun and to check my loops and they are always a little off sometimes 1/2 mile or more which can be frustrating if you are trying to pace yourself for a workout. Think about it....if you want to run 6 min pace and it's measuring 1/2 short on your whole run it's going to be 10 to 20 seconds off per mile or more if you run longer.
I'm not bashing it becuase I like the watch and I hope it's just that mine is off because it's defective but I should know once my new one arrives. I'm just giving you my personal feedback and experience with the watch.
I have to say that Nike was happy to address my issues when I called and are rushing out a new watch to me withoug having to go into the store where I bought it.
The great thing about the Nike watch is that they can fix these issues and when you link into Nike+ you can update your fimware which you can't do with Garmin. So if they want to add a new feature to the watch the can do it without making you buy a new one. Pretty cool!
The Nike Sportwatch is sleek, easy to use, and rich in functions, but it simply isn't accurate. Don't get it.

Yep, this seems to be the consensus, unfortunately. Perhaps the next generation will be better. Oh well.
I love my nike gps
I am a Nike fan. Nike. Nike. Nike.
Shoes, socks, shirts, shorts, Pre, Rupp...all the sh-nike, but...
Nike+ is only useful if you run one pace all the time.
It is a sexified pedometer.
Wrong. Garmin updates firmware as well. My 405 and 610 both update firmware over the air for bug fixes and new features. The thing I didn't like about the Nike is the way you take laps splits by hitting it. It's too easy to inadvertently bump it and take a split when you don't mean to.

Garmin 310XTw/HRM hands down. I won it as part of a prize package last yr(saved me from having to buy it ). My 405 does not have battery life long enough for races over 6 hours. The 310 has the battey that lasts up to 20 hrs.
This yr I won the FR60w/ HRMin a prize package and plan to use it for indoor races and workouts this winter.
I have the 110 (same at the 210 minus HR). It is small, gets the satelites quickly and tells me how far I've run which is all I really care about. The distance seems to be measured pretty accurately. For more functionality, I think you need to connect it to a computer, but that's not anything I care about or have done. The pace while running doesn't seem to be very exact but it's obviously correct when you are done.
For what I want, the Garman is great. For lots of functions while you are running you should look at a different model of Garmin than the 110 or 210.
I haven't tried the Nike.
Funny people replied today, my 210 arrived and I ran with it. Seemed to work very well. I ran a loop that I had measured very well and it came out right on. Looks good, light-weight and measured accurately, so I'm happy with it.
I had one. Worked pretty well for about 6 months. Got caught in a mild rain storm a half mile out from the end of a run. 350 dollars down the drain. Could have just been faulty manufacturing, but I didn't get my money back.
Are Garmins water resistant? Can you run in the rain with them?
If it were a 5K Garmin would have lapped Nike twice and thats being generous

The best thing about the 310 is that it is actually waterproof. Between my wife and I we have had 3 405's succomb to moisture from sweat and short out. It also has 4 visible data fields, it is easy to switch from run to bike and it saves your data fields for each sport, and no stupid bezel-touch menus.
Ran in the rain with mine today and I sweat like crazy most days. No problems with that yet. It has similar water ratings to my ironman watch I think.
