Kamikaze,
As you know I grew up here and so I'm sure my view is a bit biased. Even so, I think I can be objective and point out the bad things.
Here are my points:
1) Housing is no problem. I know some people from Dayton, and they think it is expensive here, but they're from DAYTON. I guess it depends on where it is you're coming from. I cam back here after living in Maryland close to DC, and THAT was expensive as was Palo Alto where I also lived, so for me I think this place is a bargain. Try

to get an idea of apartment costs.
2) I work with some single people, and it seems that this is NOT a great town for single night life type things. Again, I guess it depends what you compare it to. If you like hockey and arena football and OSU athletics, then there's always that.
3) I do hate that Central Ohio is the cloudiest place in the country - not as much rain as other places, but it is the cloudiest.
4) Some ok places to run here, but nothing great. Olentangy Bike Trail is decent if you don't mind running on pavement. I pick it up behind Thomas Worthingon High School, but there are other entry points. Highbanks Metro Park has some nice shaded dirt trails. Sharon Woods Metro Park has a nice little 3.8 mile loop that's hilly and paved.
5) Lots of places to live really. Since you're not married and don't have kids, probably more places to consider since schools won't be an issue. There are some nice apartments and condos over by the Easton Town Center. A guy I work with lives over there, and he likes it. Upper Arlington and Worthington are more expensive. Stay away from Morse Road - lots of bad stuff going on there. Hilliard is nice. Pickerington is nice but the joke is that that's where the rednecks in town live. Dublin is VERY crowded and I would stay away from there. Westerville has nice areas.
6) Good State Fair here - more interesting for families.
7) Great places to eat here - Columbus has every chain restaurant you can imagine most likely - at last the national ones. The best restaurants are owned by Cameron Mitchell (www.cameronmitchell.com). Max and Erma's was just voted as having the best hamburger in town; can't vouch for that since I don't eat beef.
8) Get your running shoes at one place and one place only - Front Runner on Lane Avenue. Excellent store run by runners.
Let me know if you need any more info.
