Post them. I'm transitioning out of VFFs into lightweight shoes (5k PR high 16s) and I just want something with a bit more protection. Help?

I run about 60 miles a week and I do all my running in XC racing flats.
I personally like the Saucony Grid Kilkenny XC and the Brooks XC racing flat.
I use the Asics Gel Hyperspeed-4s. They have a very small drop and I find they have pretty good cushioning. Only down side is that you can't get many miles out of them because they tend to wear fairly quickly.

As others have said, you could try flats. However, if it matters to you, they're not all "flat." Both the Mizuno Ronin and Musha are 9mm drops. Not sure about the Hyperspeed, but I would guess that it's in that range. Some of the other flatter shoes out there:
Saucony Kinvara: 4mm
Saucony Mirage: 4mm
NB MR10: 4mm
Newton Distancia: 2mm
I've heard the new Brooks "Pure" collection will be 4mm.
Ran in VFF's (when it wasn't too hot or too cold) for a couple of years. Have the Mizuno Wave Universe now. Very minimal drop (just a few mm's) half the weight of the Vibrams (3.8 oz) and the best part is they breathe. There's no support whatsoever, which I think is good, and you get a tiny amount of cushioning.
Been running 90-100 mpw in them, they have about 500 miles on them and are starting to show some wear - but I think they should hold up at least another 8 or 900 miles.
I'm running in the Puma Yugorun model and they are very nice
These have a 0mm drop and still have enough cushioning to be used as trainer on all surfaces. Try the instinct.
Saucony Grid A-4. It is like an old school flat.
