I'll begin by saying: Thanks for a wonderfully eye-opening report from Iten. Amazing stuff.
My question is: Does a program exist that would let me recycle my used running shoes by sending them to Kenya. It seems criminal to just throw them out after I've put in my 500 miles, knowing that somebody with a dream of becoming a pro runner over in Kenya would make good use of them.
I'm sure I've seen a little item here and there about organizations that collect used running shoes and ship them off.
Actually, now that I've asked the question: I googled "send used running shoes Kenya," with the words NOT constrained by quotes, and found the following:

This organization is based in Eldoret and asks you to send your used shoes directly to them.
Any thoughts about this? Please use this thread, folks, to suggest worthy organizations. Personally, I'd prefer a stateside organization that would collect shoes and then ship then en masse.
