are there any new coaching positions open?
are there any new coaching positions open?
This is what I have heard so far from the state of Michigan:
Fuller(CMU) and Goodridge(EMU) will swap places. This prompts all of the runners from both schools to transfer to Western Michigan University(WMU). This draws Bob Parks out to be the volunteer assistant at WMU. Boaz and Bauer both get a 6th year.
Not to be outdone by their MAC rivals, all of the Michigan and Michigan State runners transfer to Lansing Community College(LCC) opening up a hot new job, which will be filled by Robert Gary thus ending speculation that he will take the Illni job (and opening up the Ohio State job for Kevin Sullivan).
Just when Warhurst and Stinzi thought they had nothing to do, Alan Webb moves back to Ann Arbor so Ronnie can coach him one-on-one, Stinzi resigns from Michigan State to go to Ann Arbor to be Warhust's assistant. This leaves the Michigan State job open for Walt Drenth to return to his roots (well, an hour south anyways).
Now, this is just rumor, but I am sure it will all be sorted out after the NCAA meet.
The weirdness continues when Dusty Baker is announced as the new coach at Colorado. In order to get Baker, the San Francoisco Giants demand Wetmore and Ritz as compensation and the Buffs oblige.
Boaz opts to stay at EMU and becomes the NCAA's first player / coach. The lucrative deal pays Boaz six figures. At the press conference, Boaz states, "The Hurons will benefit from my ten years of professional racing, er, my youth and energy."
On the distaff side, Vin Lannana reaffirms his committment to Stanford and promises to get "even hotter girls" to run in Palo Alto. The reigning Pac-10 champs also announce a long term outfitting deal with Victoria's Secret.
