Hey, 220 lb "retiring" weightlifter here, transitioning from 2-3 miles a day, every other day, to higher mileage, six days/week to run some 10k's and a half-marathon.
Some pencil-necked geek (ok, that's uncalled for), er skinny runner-type working in running store took one look at me and threw me a pair of XX, saying that is their most popular shoe.
My right knee aches after running 2-3 miles on pavement. Grass is better. Ice/ibuprofen even better than that. I tried researching running shoes from say Brooks and Asics, but all I get are slick writeups written by advertising pros. One of the radiologists I train at the gym got me a free MRI, said it shows nothing. Since it doesn't hurt nearly as much when I run on grass (which is limited in this urban area), I'm thinking I need some better cushioning.
So what shoe is recommended?
