I prefer Nike but am willing to try a new brand if they have a really good lightweight trainer. Any help/advice greatly appreciated. Thanks LR!

Saucony Kunvaras. No real comparison. Light enough for road racing (although I don't) and plush enough for long runs.
Hey, you're a really good lightweight trainer!
I highly recommend you!
aight thanks man
nike frees
Adidas Adios are really good fast shoes and they are pretty durable. Ran PB in 3,000m with them 10:30, I was 13 right before my birthday.
I began using the Nike frees last summer and they have been remarkable. The first time I wore them, I turned around and went right back home and changed to my old shoes. But, after slowly working into them, they are my favorite trainer ever! I probably would not race in them, but they would be fine for racing.
My son is using the Reebok reflex and thinks they are awesome. he used them for training and raced in them during track season. he loves them.
He also has another pair of shoes he rotates with. they are Saucony Kunvaras. he really likes them, also but reebok reflex the best.

What weight range are you looking for? The term "lightweight" covers everything from the super-light Nike Streak XC (5.4 oz.) to the more prototypical flats like the Pearl Izumi Streak (7.9 oz.) to the performance trainers like the Asics Speedstar (9.5 oz.) and everything in between.
I second this. Best trainer I've ever worn. So comfortable and light.
Definitely love my Kinvaras. I'm on my fifth pair.
asics ds trainers. best trainers i've ever used
Nike LunarElite
Does anybody immediately know of a website that shows an evolution chart of major running/track shoe manufactures?
For instance, Nike's running/track/XC shoe lines in the sixties, seventies, eighties and so forth and what models they've evolved into? I think a website with that data is needed. Same with Adidas, Saucony, Converse, etc.
I've been running in the Adidas Mana. Almost gone through my second pair. It's been a great shoe for me

Yep. These can take the miles as a trainer, but are great for racing 5k-42k .
Whichever one Jason Rexing was wearing when he ran 13:55.

Third on the Brooks Launch.
As good or better than any lightweight trainer I've EVER run.
So far I have about 300 miles on them and they seem good for at least another 300.
just got the Puma Faas 500. absolutely love it as a lightweight trainer / threshold run shoe.
