Fluid, Endurox, Powerbar, Recoverite, something else? I've use Endurox in the past but I'm looking for something a little less expensive... BUT if nothing else is close to it's performance, I'll keep shelling the $$ out for it.

Chocolate milk has always been my go to. And its real cheap
slim fast
Water.
I drink 8 oz of cherry, blueberry, or raspberry kefir mixed with 16 oz of soymilk - 35g carbs, 28g protein
Bolthouse Farms Chai Green Tea. Really expensive though.
anything more than 20g (maybe up to 25 max) of protein in recovery period is unnecessary. you can't absorb more than that.
4 to 1 CHO to pro ratio is best. low fat choco milk or endurox. there are definitely other ways to achieve this but i don't know of them off the top of my head.
I'm on the Bear Grylls program...drink your own pee!
I've been wondering for a while - is chocolate milk actually better for you than regular milk? Doesn't it have a ton of sugar in it? why is chocolate milk better than regular milk?
'cause chocolate tastes good

Not a recovery drink.
chocolate milk - low (1%) or no fat - has carb and protein in a 4 to 1 ratio. this ratio has been scientifically proven to be optimal for absorption and utilization of these nutrients, right after a hard workout.
this is why choco is better than regular milk: it has more sugar, upping the carbohydrate content. regular milk is not 4:1. obviously, for general health regular milk seems like a better choice, but for athletes who are doing intense workouts a few times per week, chocolate milk is going to be better for recovery.
this doesnt mean that you need to be chugging chocolate milk all day. a glass or two within 15-30 mins of a hard effort is good.
My coach is a huge advocate for coconut water after races.

oh, thank you
Endurox R4 has always been my favorite. I know it's expensive, but I, without a doubt, feel better and recover better when drinking it withing 15 minutes after a run/workout.
Better than chocolate milk? If it is only just as good, it might be better to go cheaper/easier.
Can someone please explain why the high fructose corn syrup in chocolate milk helps your body recover? I understand it's better than nothing, but really?
To the OP, I drink Endurox off and on, try to after hard workouts, but normally just make sure I get some carbs and protein in after a run. There are so many creative ways to do this without shelling out the $ for endurox (although it has other stuff like glutamine in it that make it pretty good) or drinking the BS chocolate milk "miracle recovery drink".
I've heard liquid is more easily absorbed than solid food, but who knows. Here are some ideas (generally in order of what I do)
Glass of OJ with some vanilla yogurt stirred in (sounds weird, tastes good)
OJ with a little whey protein mixed in
Water and a Clif Bar
Water and a Peanut-butter sandwich (all natural PB and 100% whole wheat or the like)
Any combo of above
Honestly though, if you have the money, spring for the Endurox. If you don't want to, realize that chocolate milk is way overrated, and while it might be better than nothing, IT IS NOT GOOD FOR YOU. It won't kill you, I'm not saying not to drink it, but stop believing the bs everyone says about it being some miracle acai goji berry all natural PED. It's f**king chocolate milk.
why are you drinking chocolate milk with high fructose corn syrup in it? that's your first problem.
Semen is actually your best bet.
In my experience (I am a dentist), many of the so-called recovery drinks are too sugary, which is not good because they sits on your teeth.
You're much better off after your hard track workouts stopping by a Popeye's Chicken and Biscuits drive-through and loading up with Popcorn Shrimp (protein) or a 8pc chicken bucket with some Cinnamon Apple Pie (low sugar) for dessert.
