It's good for any kind of terrain. Besides, for XC, you shouldn't use spikes... I don't recommend using any shoe that has a plastic plate because it gets destroyed by any pavement you run on. They are indeed more durable, and provide excellent grip needed for XC, but one annoying thing I found was that the spike slots get rocks stuck in them and me having OCD and all just has to get them out. It also ruins makes it more difficult to put spikes in/take em out if you decide to use them for Track.
