If I were to get the Nike Pegasus, is there any reason I should get the 27, and not the 28 breathe? Would it not be as durable because it has less fabric or something?

The only change from Pegasus 27-28 is the upper, the midsole is the exact same and that's the only part of the shoe you should worry about.
The Nike breathe models would only be slighly cooler.
That doesn't make sense. When they came out with the Triax breathe, they kept the same model #. Now we're seeing the Pegasus 28 Breathe available in some stores before there is even a Pegasus 28 of anything, which is confusing, but rest assured the "Breathe" model isn't calling itself the 28 because its midsole is that of the 27.
I should clarify that they're probably 99.9% the same between models, but still, it's not the 27.

The 'normal' Pegasus 28 is out and has been for a awhile. However not many retailers have stocked them yet. I'd assume since it's going into summer they have gone with the 'breathe' model first.
http://www.roadrunnersports.com/rrs/products/NIK1376/And as said above, the only update to the Pegasus 28 is the upper.
Both the standard 28 & the breathe 28 contain the same midsole as the 27.
Both the uppers (structurally) on the 28 models are the same, however the breathe model offers are more open mesh for well you know...
Bump. I'm about to order a pair of these since my Pegasus 27's are pretty much shot. Since it's the summer should I just go with the breathe version or does it not really make a difference?
Hmm...I was just a running store that stocked both the 27 and 28's. For some reason, the 28's felt a lot lighter even though the product description states 11.2 to 11.6.
The pegasus 28 has an official release date to stores of 6/1. The breathe version of the 28 had an early release of 5/1. The breathe 28 and the regular 28 have all the same tooling on the upper and midsole except that the mesh on the breathe version is obviously more open. And yes, the midsole/outsole tooling is the same as the 27.
I ended up just ordering the original 28 off of Running Warehouse. The main reason for this is I liked the color better than the vibrant blue of the breathe version. Nike has a tendency to get a bit fancy and carried away with their marketing gimmicks so I figured simple is better. I've run in "normal mesh" shoes in very hot weather pretty frequently and don't seem to care or notice anything about my feet heating up, so I just went with the better original color.
