I don't know if i'm just out of the loop or what, but I was wondering what has happened to Sam Chelanga. He ran that fast 10k and an okay 5k, fast enough to get him to regionals, but he hasn't raced in over a month. Is he injured or what?

he is waiting.....
He doesn't sleep, he waits
He didn't even run in his conference meet. I know the good ones wait but they still usually run something at their conference.
He ran a meet last week end.The radford meet va.He ran 14:02.The next guy was 15:52 the the next guy was 17:05 and the next guy was a dnf.
There was a link on here last week that I can't find now. He was home in Eldoret and was mugged and beated. He has broken bones and won't be running for the rest of the season. Traggic. This would have been his 4th consecutive Steeplechase victory. The guy is a class act and will be starting grad school in Chemistry in the fall.
Hold that. I got him mixed up with Peter Kosgei.
I assume Chelanga wants to start his season with the NCAA championships, and go on to compete in DL or other top European meets. Maybe even the Kenyan WC trials?
I know Sam has mentioned wanting to get his US citizenship and compete for the US, so he may hold off on representing Kenya. If he does, doesnt that usually force you to sit out some years once you do become a US citizen? Im pretty sure this is the case with theOlympics, not sure about worlds.

Worked out okay for Lagat. He has both the Kenyan and American world records.

Dude, it is the Big South conference. He could run backwards in trainers carrying Evans Kigen on his back and still win events. Probably not, but you get my point. The conference SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKS. There is no point for him to run there. Bekele don't run in Flanders Cup races do he?
Go back and look at the race he ran is 14:02 5k in. that field SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKED so why not run his 5k at his conference. Either way its a terrible field.
Dude's looking for a job.

Does he really hold the Kenyan and American world record? I'll give you some time to think about it.

Sam Chelanga doesn't run, he just pushes the earth backwards with his feet.
Sam Chelanga has run an infinitely long marathon. Twice.
If Sam Chelanga runs 14:02 and you run 14:02, Sam Chelanga still beats you.
dude has one of the most active twitter accounts it seems and someone is on letsrun wondering where he is. just tweet him. sounds like he is into hockey and hanging out with bald dudes.

What's a Kenyan world record? An American world record?
I spoke with him. He is starting his season later, so he can then race in Europe this summer..
