It's Friday May 6. I thought I had good grades. I go to a public high school in a UMC area. I got rejected by USC, UCLA, Cal, Stanford, UCSD, UCSB, Cal Tech. Should I join the Army or enroll in Jr College ?

Those are all rather selective schools, even USC has had a sea-change from years past on the level of the school. Of course, CalTech is tough even by the standards Stanford, which itself is very tough What is a UMC area? Certainly the State College system is not that shabby, with more emphasis on undergrad education than the UC schools. Also, remember that the budget cuts really caused a cutback in acceptances at UC. Thus, the only school that says anything really remotely negative is USC and they are a bit idiosyncratic and have gotten much better.
I went to a Cal State school and then got into grad school at the likes of Northwestern (not MIT, though).
Gotz money ? You can just walk on with a HS diploma, i.e. open enrollment at publics: SUNY, Cal States, UW, WSU, UO, OSU, UA, ASU, Big 10, SEC, Big 12, ACC, Big East, UNM, ...

Exactly which Big 10 schools have open enrollment?
I'm thinking, uh, hmm, none.
ACC?
Nope.
Not even SEC.
Are there any NCAA Div. 1 schools with open enrollment?
go to jr college. Make excellent grades. Apply to a 4 year school in your 2nd year.
definitely big10 schools have open enrollment. i took classes on w whim at North Western to join my wife when my FIL had a terminal illness and we moved in to care for him.

This is the correct answer. Once you Ace your classes at JC, you're pretty much guaranteed acceptance into most of those schools. Plus you get to save a ton of money.
Go to OCC. They have a good cross country and track program and the women at the school are hot. Take your general ed courses and then transfer to a UC.

If you have super grades and test scores and didn't get accepted to any of these schools you must be white. That's the way it goes.
Maybe so, thats why you take 16-18 credit hours at the JC and since you are overqualified for that you can pull a 3.8 pretty easy and you'll be the cream of the transfer crop. Plus you can make those grades while working or running on a team. Either save some big dough for yourself working or have fun running on a team with low pressure.
Obviously you have never heard of the term "safety school". You should have applied to Cornell as a backup plan.
[quotte] I got rejected by USC, UCLA, Cal, Stanford, UCSD, UCSB, Cal Tech.
[/quote]Why that list ? UCs have the prime DOE nuclear weapons labs. USC is the prime Internet backbone authority. I'm reporting this thread to the DHS, FBI, and US Navy Seals.
I give you credit for having the balls to apply to Cal Tech given that you were rejected by UCSD and UCLA.
I find it interesting and sad that nobody in this thread suggests getting a full time job and working awhile. Sad because they are probably right. You get taxed on work like its a pack of cigarettes.
I do know that community colleges are highly underrated in our country for the price.
Join the Army then you can kill Bin Ladin and his filthy Semitic friends.

Private colleges, (ie, Stanford and USC) put a cap on asians... its like 20% at stanford. So saying you are white has no real effect in this case...
JC for sure. Save the money. Even after one year you could transfer over.
As for the military, since so many trying to enlist, it may take months, unless you take some crap MOS to speed up to process, leading to a miserable life in the service. Could be up to a year wait.
You can still do ROTC in three years if you choose to go the college route.
usc has an unofficial 20% cap on orientals, 30% cap total on asians.
stanford has an unofficial 20% cap on asians.
cal has an official 30% cap on chinese-americans and chinese foreigners which was negotiated with asian civil rights groups. by federal court decree cal cannot have any other racial caps.
join the NBA, you get lots of money, play a fun game, travel and ond only work 82 days a year, possibly about 4-20 more depending how your team does in the playoffs.
