some pretty good races there:
1500m:
fernandez
centrowitz
acosta
casey
teg
jager
lomong
the top collegian should get one of the best in season college times ever, maybe the best. 3:34 quite possible.
5000m:
estrada
huling
mottram
elliott mf heath!
sub 13:20 in the offing for mottram and huling.
10000m
solinsky
pacers? comp? didn't notice who the best other guys were. Solinsky seems like he's in shape to go sub 27, given his lower weight, how long ago his low 13 down under was, and his pr 1500m. will he get the long ride he got last year from rupp? doesn't seem like it.
Bayer and Bumbalough entered in 1500 too.
Good to see Jager back and a Lomong sighting.
interesting to see tahri the 8:01 steepler debuting at 10000 meters.
the womens 1000 appears to be the deepest race talentwise chepkirui, kipyego, flanagan, huddle and more.
I am not sure that Solinsky is trying to run a great time here. He might just be trying to get a qualifying time; if so, do not be disappointed if he runs a 27:25 (is 27:30 the "A"?)
Apparently they have added a distance section to the Pre Meet that is free (the evening before). A bunch of East Africans might be trying to reach qualifying standards (remember there are very few high-level meets now). In addition to qualifying times, it might be one of the inputs into team selection, which would have a racing element rather than a pure time-trial element. See the thread on the Track and Field News board (and possibly a link on the home page and note that the meet director posts on that board in regards to the Pre meet every year).
It will be interesting to see how Jagar does. I think (vaguely based on what I remember) that he will take a while to get back into good form and that the Trials for the WCs might be a bit early for him, especially with the likes of his teammates and Lagat and some others (although Solinsky is likely to do the 10,000).
people need to stop listing casey as a notable. his "3:54" conversion was obviously a sham yet he tries to race like he's a 3:54 miler. he better not be getting into races as a 3:54 miler either, that's a total rip

He was 3rd in the NCAA mile in 2010 as a RS Frosh beating Acosta. He has no doubt had some bad races, but is certainly in better shape than indoors of 2010 and worth noting.
Also in the 5k, Derrick, Jake Riley, Brandon Bethke, Hassan Mead, Kevin Schwab, Ryan Hill, Colby Lowe, Coe, Furst, Dunbar, Overall
And some young guys in their first (or one of their first) 5ks, Moussa, Hurysz, Schellberg
Mead is still a question mark. If he runs a good/fast time here rather than the 'solid' 5000 (13:45, I think) it will be a sign that he is really back (e.g., he ran 13:28 before). My guess is that he will run 13:39 and leave us in doubt about how close to his old form he is or might be in the near future.
Ammar Moussa is entered the 5000m. I didn't know they allowed HS kids in this meet?
Rupp ?
Batty ?
Lacey (new Mormon last name) ?
Actually Jordan Hasay started this trend by entering the meet her junior and senior years of HS.

Rupp ran 13:55 in the B heat in 04 as a senior.
Scotty Bauhs, Ben True, and Bolota Asmeron in the 10k.
Robert Cheseret of US Army, Brent Vaughn in the 10k as well.
Hope to see some breakthroughs or some of these guys return to their old form.
odds that the germanator actually shows... very small. pretty sure he said after his last shoe-gate that we wouldn't see him race again until big 12s. either way its loaded, and i wouldnt be shocked by a 3:34 from the legendary ANDY BEAR, blankenship, or some of the other college guys.
in other news, the sol train is goin 26:45, WRITE IT DOWN
glad that Bayer and Bumbi were mentioned above. I meant to write their names down but was going by memory. Has Bayer been really tested yet at the mile or 1500 this year? Should be impressive. And Casey near the end was leading that race a week or two ago in which Brown and Sol ran 3:34ish. I didn't notice Derrick. He should be in sub 13:30 shape by this point.

27:40 is the A standard for Daegu, but Solinsky's already qualified for that (the qualifying window for Daegu for the 10,000 started Jan. 1, 2010).
27:45 is the A standard for London, which could be what Solinsky is targeting.
flanagan is entered in both the 5k and 10k. Probably undecided as to which one she wants to run. Wonder if she's actually gonna race huddle in the 10k, or save it for worlds?
I'm so happy to see Stanford weenie millionaire track & field groupies providing media reports, videos, and multimedias when KNTV, KGO, KCBS,... ignore the best sport in the world. Thanks to the Cardinal.
