Pretty weak even if training through it.

seriously depressing
The big elephant sits wherever it wants.
This is almost the identical performance that caused him to pull out of Chicago.
John Hancock can expect a phone call over the next week.
Taking one day off per week, running less mileage, putting off workouts = decreased performance.

As I recall, Sammy Wanjiru had a similar training schedule. However, I agree that taking 1 day off EVERY WEEK, is just not a good idea. Can anyone confirm this is actually what he's doing?

It doesn't seem too far fetched. I recall reading that Paula Radcliffe does a 7 day block of training then takes the 8th day off and then begins a new 7 day block of training. Of course she is doing 140MPW and getting all the necessary components into that week. Hall it seems is running hard when God tells him he is ready to.
I know Ryan says he is running with God's and some other folks guidance, but if he keeps putting up performances like that, he will need to be looking for a job soon. I don't think Asics or any other sponsor is going to keep paying him as much as he gets unless he starts performing better. Maybe he is okay with that, if so, good for him. His charity work is great, but his sponsors are in the business of making money and there are an abundance of 1:03 half marathoners out there who make a lot less money than Ryan does from sponsors If he desires to resume running at a World Class level (and keep getting paid for it), he may need to adjust his plan a bit. I wish him well in whatever he decides to do.
I'm pretty sure Paula cross trained on the days she took off of running.
"Running With Joy: My Daily Journey to the Marathon."
went right to .99 cents bin
No good training advice in the bible ?
He should find a coach- Salazar. Honestly, God doesn't care if you race well or not. He made the world and lets it run it's course.
It's because he ran on sunday, clearly against what his coach suggested....

Agreed, but let's see what he does in the marathon. I'd like to see the guy reach his potential, which is probably better than his 2:06 debut. Trouble is, he really doesn't seem to have his head in the game.
Listen to the guy talk. He doesn't sound very fierce these days.
I think Ryan is doing the correct thing by taking more time off and letting his body rest, but the extent in which he is doing it is ridiculous. You can still run and let your body rest. No need to take so much time completely off. I really am rooting for Ryan to put down some great times, but his best times were from his harder training, and I don't know if he's doing enough to improve on that.
I give the guy all the credit for his great perfomances and great heart in the past but when he split with his coach to be trained by....ummm "his" plan then anyone with half a brain could tell he is done. he cares more about his bible than anything else but still needs a paycheck. next thing on his agenda is founding a church, just what the world needs, more churches, and becoming the pastor.

on the surface, true, but the girls love Ryan Hall. Really. I've had 3 or 4 women actually say to me (I'm male, so it was really weird) that they were obsesses with Hall. I don't get it, but he probably sells a lot of sneakers.
True. No matter what, Hall is very marketable and very fast (despite his performance today).
This kid has run 59:43/2:06:17.
That commands massive respect, for me at least.
I really don't know what to make of this. Usually I see performances like this and don't worry at all. Runners go into slumps for various reasons. A bad day, or even a few bad days don't matter in the big picture.
63:53 should feel like he's dragging his feet, no matter what kind of condition he's in.
While Hall's career is the stuff of dreams he is now consistently running 3-4 minutes slower than his best HM. Not good.
Perhaps Terrance fried him on those ridiculously hard tempo runs and won't ever get it back?
