I believe Melody Fairchild was the first to do so... Congratulations on TWO spectacular titles beating some of the best runners in the country... as a sophomore!!! And she would have almost gotten a third title too in the DMR... amazing!!!

Indoors ?
What about Ceci Hopp?
so this is saying that because girls burn out after HS, it's especially rare to be at the top again in the NCAA years?

Exactly! She won her title ahead of Fairchild by 14 years. I'm guessing that the topic creator simply isn't old enough to remember that, so their historical perspective is a bit too narrow.
And quite frankly, as someone else already pointed out, indoors? Over the last few decades that encompass the Kinney/Footlocker history, there have been a LOT of top-notch female distance runners who haven't run indoors at all. However, everyone runs outdoors, so when Jordan wins a D-1 outdoor title she can THEN say that she has joined the ranks of Hopp and Fairchild.
Revisionist History, if this were the Olympics, you would say, "And quite frankly, this was a down Olympics. All the good athletes didn't complete. They were either too old or had something better to do. Let's see how Hasay does in the next Olympics were it will be so much more difficult because of reasons X, Y, and Z. And she will be at a distinct disadvantage, being dragged down by the weight of all these championships under her belt."

I'm pretty sure Deena Kastor won Footlocker, NCAA XC, Olympic Marathon bronze.

Well then let's look at it another way...
How many Footlocker Champs (men or women) went on to make either a US Olympic or World Outdoor Champs team?

I'm pretty sure you're wrong...
Looking at the dudes there I'm seeing Ritz, Jorge, Downin, Goucher, Kennedy, Davis, and Reina. I'm probably missing a couple.

What I wrote is incorrect. I do remember that Deena had a unique combination of wins. Perhaps it was California XC Champ and Olympic medalist.
You are right that I am wrong lol.
isnt it an unusual combination of performances for any american born distance athlete to have a medal at the world champs/ olympic games?

No, I wouldn't. You're simply being another troll on the LetsRun message boards, what a surprise! I stand by what I said because it's not subjective, it's factual.

but "he's about to" is a phrase that should never be uttered in our sport

What title did Fairchild win Outdoors? She won the Indoor 3k. It really doesn't matter Indoors or Out, an NCAA title is an NCAA title.
