Started lapping people at 2k mark. Slowed down the last mile. 32 last 200.

Was the record really that slow? Damn. I don't really want to go into it, but aren't there 4 year old gazelle that can run a 5k in under 6 minutes?
Thought he would go under 14 until the last 3 laps. Should be a great outdoor season.
hoppin out all rugged
LV on da luggage
DBLOCK chain dey think i playin 4 da nuggets
Lukas Verzbicas = LV= LUIS VUITTON
video?
The record was slow because it's rarely run. But this is a good indicator that he can break 8:40 for the two mile outdoors. And if he runs another 5,000 outdoors run 13:40 or under. I wasn't so sure before.
I'll watching this. I just hope he doesn't overextend himself chasing too many high school records that don't mean a thing the second you show up for his first college practice.

I'm with ya about why it was so "slow" before... much better now, bringing it down to about 8:46y caliber. Seemed to me he had a 14:00 in him today, not sure if he woulda have gone any faster than that with better splits.
It will be interesting to see just what he can do outdoors this year... another 3 months to drop his times!
i thought galen rupp ran 13:37 or something. or is that a different record? is that for outdoor and this is just indoor?
that is outdoors.

Why is the outdoors record so much faster? More oxygen?
less annoying. honestly, who wants to run 25 laps of anything let alone around a stuffy fieldhouse?

How many high schoolers run set up fast races indoors? That's number one. Very few.
They really don't exist. When Brad Hudson ran 14:25 it was still inferior to the 3 mile indoor hs record set by Dave Merrick in the early 70's. And he ran it in an open race with Brice Bickford and several other pros.
It's rarely run, and even still, Rupp ran 13:37 getting flown by Nike (yes, I know, his parents paid it all back so he could go back to and compete for Oregon) to a meet in Europe.
Ritz ran a 13:44 at a U.S. National meet which he was waived into (never saw that happen before) and finished in about 11th place in a race that was won around 13:25.
Lindgren to his credit ran 13:44 way back in 1964 or 65 in a race with the greatest competitor at the time-Ron Clarke.
It makes you appreciate John Zishka running from the gun in high school at U.S. Junior and winning at 13:55, or Chris Derrick runing 13:52 at Penn.
Plus the indoor tracks until the last 10-15 years just aren't conducive to fast distance races. The air has nothing to do with it. You just end up coughing a little more after the race than you would outdoors.
The Lithuanian record is pretty good now.
he's also not lithuanian anymore
His 14:06 is equal to 8:44 for 3200m (8:47 for two miles) so very consistent performances from him.
Big deal when a Mexican high schooler droped a 13.09 5k last month.
Ya, that wasn't made up or anything.
Derrick ran 13:54 I believe, and it was at Arcadia, not Penn. Ritz ran 13:51 at Penn in the spring, prior to his 13:44 at USAs in HS.
how the fukkc does at 14:06 indoor 5k mean he can run under 13:40 for outdoor 5k?
