I know she went thru 20km in 1:02:36 average back to back 31:18 10km but then the tape went up at 1:05:5? and couldn't see if that was her- did she smash the WR?

YES she destroyed the 1/2 marathon WR
Overall - Female - Finish
1 M. Keitani (KEN) 1:05:50
2 D. Tune (ETH) +3:03
3 M. Dibaba (ETH) +3:07
4 R. Kosgei (KEN) +3:14
5 A. Kiprop (KEN) +3:21
6 H. Kibet (NLD) +3:46
7 S. Haydar (TUR) +4:13
Holy Crap! This will probably not garner the attention it deserves, but this record is the first women's distance record in the last decade that deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as PR's marathon record.
1:05:50 1/2 marathon equates to what kinda full marathon?
she passed 20km in 1:02:36 and ran the last 1.1 kilometers in 3:24 so she picked it up and had something left- WOW!

2:18:15 at a conservative conversion rate.

2:16 high, I think. Still not as good as PR's marathon, but still... I'd say this is also equivalent to around 29:30 for 10k. Will we be seeing a new WR at 10,000 this year?
1:05:50 1/2 marathon converts to
10km........29:35
15km........45:51
10miles.....49:34
20km........1:02:23
marathon....2:18:51
it gives Paula's 2:15:45 WR
conversion
10km........28:56
15km........44:50
10mile......48:28
20km........1:01:00
marathon....2:15:45
I don't see a women who could run the equivalent 29:35 10km and 1:05:50 1/2 marathon only barely breaking 2:19
and flanagan just beat keitany a couple of months ago. WOW

No. Not the same league. Not even the same sports. ;)
How come Paula can't break the half marathon record? Her record is f***ed up!!!
Paula will never break mary keitany record!!!!!!!!!!Paula doesn't own the half marathon record or 25k or 30k. The only record Paula own is the marathon.
She did break the record and is celebrating tonight by f*cking Matt Damon.
On the WMA calculator, 1:05:50 grades to exactly 100% for a 29 year old.
The marathon mark that yields the same 100%: 2:15:25
Not that I would agree with that myself, as a quality equivalence.
On the letsrun home page is says she won $75,000, but didn't she win the women's race ($25,000), the Course Record ($5,000) and World Record Bonus ($50,000), so the total = $80,000.
At least there doesn't seem to be anything written to say you can't win both the CR and WR bonus.
Big Deal. 2:28 SUCKS. She will never master the marathon. Flanagan is NOT a marathoner. 2:28 is TOO SLOW to compete against the best it is THIRTEEN MINUTES behind PR. 2:28 SUCKS and will always SUCK. Keitany was on drugs for 1:05, and let Flanagan beat her just to throw us off. FLANAGAN IS NOTHING AS A MARATHONER. She didn't even win her first marathon!

i get it as 2"18'08
her 10k prospects are better ->29'38
she still is young & shoud run track 10ks
i'm not saying she can run 29'38, but she certainly shoud be able to go well below 30

I forget. How many Olympic Golds does Paula Radcliffe have again? How about Olympic Medals? A time can only get you so far.

Jokes aside, does everyone in Schumacher's camp take a total dump once they go beyond 13.1 miles?
why, Why, WHY...I hate to say it but I have to agree with Ventolin. Mary should try her hand at the 10000m Worlds. If she does run London and final runs a good marathon, then she should target Worlds 10000m. In the fall comeback and attack her 1/2 marathon WR and then prepare for the London 10000m or marathon. Mary certainly should be capable of 29:50-30:10 for a track 10000m with her current fitness and some track speedwork.
I'm very happy to learn from you that Mary Keitany was on drug for running 65:50. I need to congratulate with some moron knowing everything from his house, never going to Kenya and never meeting Mary, but able to read in his magician's crystal ball what happens in Iten.
So, now I want to explain something that who is interested in athletics has to know.
1) Mary went to Rak HM with a schedule for the competition having the final goal of... 1:05:50 ! So, for us NOTHING strange, because from her training we saw her real condition.
2) Mary looks at London Marathon, and for running her best she doesn't look for money at the moment. For being more clear, she's an athlete following a very strict technical project, NOT DEPENDING FROM THE MONEY, well knowing that, in the today athletics, real money can arrive only if you win top marathons or top Championships, and for reaching thar goal you need to follow a technical program, competing not many times and chosing the intermediate goals for the last, big goal.
3) For the above reason, the choice of the coach of Mary, of Mary herself, of her management (the Italian Gianni Demadonna), of her physio and of myself as advisor, was to run on 19th February FOR TECHINCAL REASONS. Of course, when you bear two WR, at the end of the race there is also good money...
4) Mary Keitany has a very tough Coach, that follows very strictly technical strategical plans. This coach, 36 years old Italian, GABRIELE NICOLA, comes from my school, is from my town (Torino), follows my principles, has a very high moral value, and NEVER GIVES TO ANY ATHLETE SOME CHEMICAL SUPPORT, also if legal. This is my mentality, and I want everybody working with me can have the same mentality. If some coach or some athlete in our group only ASKS for something like this, WE KICK HIM IN HIS ASS AND CANCEL IMMEDIATELY ANY OPPORTUNITY OF WORKING WITH HIM OR HER.
5) This because in our opinion only athletes with a clean mind can become real champions, able to last and to reach their top shape when we want. Right or not, this is our phylosophy, and about this we are sticklers.
Now, I want to spend some words about Gabriele Nicola.
He is a follower of mine. In Torino (Turin) he worked as General Secretary for Turin Marathon, from 1994 (when was 20 years old only) till 2006. He absorbed, from myself, the passion for Track & Fields, and was able to have several experiences with managers and athletes while organising Turin Marathon (race with a RC of 2:07:44).
When he supposed to be ready for becoming professional coach, he was hired by Gianni Demadonna as coach of his management.
In this role, he used his experience in organisation, for creating, both in Kenya and Ethiopia, something able to support the athletes (he stays longer than 10 months per year in Kenya / Ethiopia).
So, the DAP (Demadonna management) created a camp in Iten, because I was in Iten and the fact to stay in the same place could be a good mutual support, and a specific organisation in Addis Abeba, where GABRIELE STARTED TO BUILD SOMETHING FROM NOTHING.
Now, after 4 years, his women athletes can be considered the BEST MARATHON GROUP IN THE WORLD :
In Kenya : Mary Keitany, Lydia Cheromei (2:23:01), Agnes Kiprop (2:24), Helena Kirop (2:24), now also Sharon Cherop (2:22:47), many athletes between 2:27 and 2:30, Peninah Arusei and Philes Ongori (medals in the last two editions of WHMCh), plus some athlete as Hilda Kibet (2:26) training with the group.
In Ethiopia : Aselefech Mergia and Aberu Kebede are the best, but there are more than 10 athletes under 2:30 and other 4 under 2:26.
My role in this organisation is to discuss with Gabriele the technical plans, BUT HE IS THE FULL RESPONSIBLE, now able to walk with his legs, also if our technical collaboration is always very close and strict.
So, when I see stupid posts from stupid people speaking in bad way about something they don't know, I ALWAYS GO TO DEFEND WHO IS DEFAMED WITHOUT ANY REASON AND ANY KNOWLEDGE, because one of the worst behavior in the World is to speak BEHIND somebody that you don't know, creating a "MUD'S MACHINE" that is the most disgusting way to speak about any situation.
