No kiddin'.
To paraphrase the line used for Jeff George, Webb's got million-dollar legs and a ten-cent head. And Salazar is not exactly equipped to help out a head case.
Heath wins if he doesn't have to lead for half the race. He is in 7:45/7:46 race shape. Not horrible for Webb or German. The race was slower than they wanted and guys times were of a little. Surprised Nelson won though.
Great to see Tim run so well against decorated guys like Heath, Chelanga, etc... I look forward to seeing his progress outdoors.
Damn......and just when I was beginning to think a healthy Alan Webb could break 7:20 in the 3K.
Most of the runners in that race are on a 3 season collegiate schedule - whereas the pros have had the luxury of mostly building base since fall. What was it - 10 weeks of 120mpw for Chris? Something like that. I forget what he said in his interview but he was obviously on a aerobic "high."
Compare that with someone like German Fernandez who is coming off XC season and almost guarantee you he doesn't have that type of base behind him right now. On top of that it's been damn cold/snowy in his neck of the woods. Actually - it's been damn cold/snowy in most parts of the country except the far west coast.
Anyway - we're comparing apples and oranges. Pros - honestly - SHOULD be beating collegiate runners.
Does the $ mean they won money? Does anyone know how much?
