Editor's Note: This thread started out as a thread asking for predictions as to what kaki would run on Tuesday night with the initial prediction being, "1.44?" We changed the title to reflect what happened in the meet which you can read below.

What kind of shape is he in? I like watching him run and I still think he has the potential to take the 800m record someday.

Kaki ran 1:45.02 three days ago in Stuttgart.
Kaki DNF

Also Ismail Ahmed Ismail ran 1:48 in the B Final. What's up with that?

Mekonnen, who beat Lagat at Millrose, only finished third too. Beaten by a Kenyan kid in 3:34 WL:

1:44.88
We are finishing up the Week that Was for tomorrow and one of the things we had in there was how Abubaker Kaki was undefeated for his life at the indoor 800.
Now David Torrence, who finished 2nd in the A 800 in 1:48.10, is one of 8 men who says they have beaten Kaki.

So not only are the Brojos looking up posters' IP addresses whenever it amuses them, they've deleted the OP's post and replaced it with their own. Why not just start a new thread?
Especially galling as an "edit" feature should be available for registered users to correct spelling errors, etc. Apparently that feature is only available to a select few.
Wow is Torrence even a pro? Can't believe Kaki lost to him.
If I were David Torrence (or any of the others in the field) I wouldn't consider myself to have beaten Kaki in that race. The dude didn't finish the race. Once you see any of them cross the line ahead of Kaki, then say they've beaten him.

If someone drops out that does not mean anyone who finished beat them. Otherwise 6+ hour hobby joggers at NYC can say they have beaten Geb.

In the example you give, I would say it's ridiculous for a hobby jogger to make the claim of beating the WR Holder. But to play Devil's Advocate, would you also say, then, that Gebre Gebramariam did not beat Simon Bairu at NYC this year?
The IAAF recap is now up and it says, "Sudan’s two-time World indoor 800m champion Abubaker Kaki, scratched from the race after 100 metres after being spiked. Kenyan Richard Kiplagat won the race in 1:46.99."

I second. Not really sure why it was necessary to change things in this post rather than starting a new thread.
Brojos decision-making has been subpar lately.
I third that.

4th'd. What was the point of this????????
Kaki didn't lose and he didn't get beat, he DNF'd. Guarantee you not one of those 8 men thinks they beat Kaki.

I guess my point is that DNFs can be due to wildly varying reasons. There is the DNF due to a pre-existing injury (see Geb this year at NYC); there is the DNF due to improper pacing; there is the DNF due to a fall or a spike (see Kaki in this recent race); and I've witnessed DNFs because a runner is so PO'd with their run that they just give up. Should theis quit turn into a DNF -- and then deprive his competitors of an -- arguably -- deserved scalp?
the only way kaki loses to torrence is if he runs a bad race. look at the times.
