I mean he really looks gaunt and sick. Should world-class runners really look this gaunt and unhealthy?

Males? - Yes.
Pic?
referring to the video.
My uncle with pancreatic cancer on his death bed looked healthier.
So Webb gets ripped on for being too big and for being too small?
The video is suppose to add pounds so I suspect he is 99 lbs.
He's always had kind of a funny shaped head. That probably makes him look more emaciated than he is.
Compare with Hicham with his gold medal:

So, yes, I'm starting to wonder.
Gaunt, yes. Fast as f***, yes. Unhealthy - in a way, he's one too many 400 meter repeats away from an injury, just like all world class runners.
I was thinking just the opposite. I think he looks great. A little pale, but it's winter time and he's been running down the hallways at Nike HQ, not getting much sun lately.
It does look like he's probably wearing clothes he got at least a couple of years ago that don't fit any more. He looks like he's wearing his big brother's clothes, but you have to look beyond that.
I saw that video yesterday and if I was one of his main competitors who have not seen him for a year, I would be afraid. Be very afraid.
He looks fit. I think his arms look really skinny in the hallway, but then when he is in the room with LV he looks fit as hell.
HE is under those damn fluorescent lights, they make everyone look sick.
By the way, LV wasn't very appreciative of the trophy. Seemed kind of like an ass. You'd think he would at least look Webb in the eyes and thank him out loud.
What is with these kids and their inability to communicate and be polite?
^What, that's how I would of reacted. I mean LV isn't exactly the out going type.
Just read Once a Runner, Q.C. wears a shirt that pretty much explains it at: "Gaunt is Beautiful"
LV could have been more gracious. Maybe they cut that part out.
he's a runner...excepting a few outliers (marc davis, FAM, ETC), most are total wallflowers.

Doesn't mean he has to be rude.
I agree, all he had to do was look Alan in the eyes and say "Thank You."
Parents do an awful job of teaching their kids basic manners.
It has nothing to do with being outgoing or a "wallflower."
I think LV is thinking, "damn, The Great Alan Webb doesn't look so great in person. It is gonna be a walk in the park to beat him at the 2012 Olympic Trials."
I didn't mean to bash the kid. He is a great runner and seems nice enough. If anything, it is a reflection on his upbringing.
Good for LV. Now, all he has to do is take a entry-level course on communication and social interaction.
1. If handed a national award from a professional athlete, you should:
A. Punch him in the face.
B. Look at the ground, mumble and act detached from situation.
C. Smile, look him in the eye, say "Thank You" and possibly even shake his hand.
D. Cry.
Alan Webb = Fap Fap Fap
didnt he have the flu like last week? in fact i remember reading that on letsrun
