I would say, assuming you break yourself in properly to a minimal shoe, to alternate by days, wearing one one day, and the other the next.I have about 5-7 different pairs of shoes that I rotate, that vary in brand, and type. They are different brands, and different kinds of shoes (mostly lightweight performance trainers, and road racing shoes). I figured if one is bad for me, or even all of them, in different ways, it matters a whole lot less if I wear them once or twice a week, rather than everyday.

Alright so next cross season I'm looking to take a new shoe approach. Would it be advantageous to run in Nike Free's in the morning and a trainer in the evenings with the mileage split pretty close? I don't have interest in Vibram's, but it doesn't have to be Free's either, I just used them for an example. Would wearing a combo of the two types of shoes counter-act each other's benefits?
