I wonder why Carlson left Macmillan and is heading back to MN? And I'm surprised they took him back after he bailed on them after he had a very successful 2nd year with the team.

Probably because he had a very successful 2nd year with the team?
He left , because Baker is a good coach and Mcmillan overrated!
maybe he's going because the twin cities are awesome and arizona is a dump? Do you know those idiots in the state legislature don't even own their own capitol building anymore? they sold it and now lease!!!
2nd time he's bailed on Arizona for Minnesota hahaha

Yeah! Take that 2001
Andrew is a nice enough guy but he does not have what it takes to be true member of McMillan Elite. He is much better off at a lesser program where he can call the shots and not worry about getting man handled on every workout. Big things are happening here in Flagstaff and Andrew was not willing to do the necessary work to fulfill the expectations of our group. We wish him the best.
You are very wrong.
I assuming these are a few of the guys that regularly "man handled" him in workouts?
2010 USATF 25K Championships
1 ANDREW CARLSON FLAGSTAFF, AZ 28 1:14:42
2 BRETT GOTCHER FLAGSTAFF, AZ 25 1:15:06
3 NICHOLAS ARCINIAGA FLAGSTAFF, AZ 26 1:15:18
4 JASON HARTMANN CONCORD, MA 29 1:15:38
5 JOSH EBERLY GUNNISON, CO 29 1:15:54
6 FASIL BIZUNEH CONCORD, MA 30 1:17:28
I think they're doing great work in Flagstaff, but I don't think Andrew left because he couldn't hang.
We're all lead to believe that you're somehow tied to the group there. I kinda doubt it. My guess is those guys are above this kind of thing.
What I don't understand is why people assume there is someone to blame. Coaches and athletes work together for their goals. Sometimes it results in success, and sometimes it does not. Greg is an amazing coach, but maybe not specifically what Andrew needed. They're both good people and I'd like to believe they parted on good terms.
I wonder if college athletes looking for a group to train in post-collegiately will look more to Team USA Minnesota after seeing someone whose been in both groups return to Minnesota. I'm not a college coach but am around many talented college distance runners and constantly hear them entertain the idea of applying to McMillan's group which is definitely a solid group but there are others out there as well. Then again there could be other reasons for Carlson's departure besides the training.
Baker is such a good coach that his name is actually Barker
Carlson is a funny nice guy. Someone that is good to have a beer with...
But for real, who cares... Name the best 3 marathoners in the country.. Not him. Name the 3 best 10k guys in the country.. Not him. Name the 3 best 5k guys in the country.. Not him.. Pretty sure he didn't even make the final in '08.
But then again if I could be an average pro runner and not have a real job I would do it to.
You're right, you're not a pro runner. Have fun at your average job living your average life. Good for you for not sticking your neck out and trying to accomplish anything above average.
So if your not top 3 in something you should consider yourself average?
Do you hold yourself to that standard in your career? In other aspects of your life?
Pre was fourth in Munich...guess you'd consider him average as well.

Ya, thats why I'm 2 years away from having my PHD. Which will be done before I'm 30. I'll be published in the next 6 months and start writing a book when I finish up. I'll make more money than you can imagine.
Enjoy working at Enterprise rental car. I hear they have a great manager program. so that you can be your own boss
If you are so accomplished, why on earth are you wasting your precious time with this post?

So, to sum up:
...you DON'T have a Ph. D. You may someday.
...you're NOT published yet. You may be someday.
...you have NOT STARTED writing a book. You may start someday, which is to say nothing about finishing it.
And, none of those accomplishments are indicative of future earnings potential, certainly not at the level of unimaginable wealth.
I'll put my money on the guy at Enterprise. At least he has a job RIGHT NOW.
People like For REALZ can really make this message board intolerable. What an arrogant dick.
