Does anyone have any suggestions regarding shoes/midsole materials that have cushioning that holds its softness well in cold weather (teens and below)? My working theory at the moment is to try shoes that seem too mushy for me in normal weather (Brooks Launch, Nike Lunar models), hoping the cold will firm them up to a nice compromise of softness:responsiveness, but I am not sure that is as logical as it seems on the surface since soft materials may still have a rapid metaphorial "freezing point". Anyone else in the Northern tier states experimented with a different shoe than their normal preference for very cold weather to prevent midsole hardening and subsequent pounding?
