Doubt Verzbicas can touch that!

And the article mentions another Japanes HSer going sub-29. Damn tough!
That Japanese kid dominates at 10k, yes, but his 5k pr from a week ago was like 13:49.
I doubt he could beat Lukas in a mile race.
it seems like japanese always run fast in HS but not much faster after.
Quick question, has a japanese high schooler ever broken 4 for the mile? Or run sub 3:45 for 1500?
The japanese focus on the longer stuff and do amazing at it, very inspiring. We seem to care about nothing longer than the two mile in high school.
28:23 would have been the 3rd best time in the NCAA. Verzbicas' 4:04 mile converted to a 1500 would not place him in the top 75. Its a different level of performance man!
"The Nittai Time Trials continue tomorrow with 35 heats of 5000 m."
Seriously?
That's pretty damned burly. Not quite sure what Lukas could do at that distance, but I think he could take him at 5000 (13:49)
what's the Japanese high school record at 10k? And what age is this guy? The U.S. record was 28:32, right? Maybe it still is. Rudy Chapa.

Interesting how the Japanese kids never go to NCAA.
Because Japan has a college education system that is on par or better than that found in the United States?

Then why do all their good students come over here to go to college. My roommate in college was form Japan and attended a prestigious, selective high school there. He said he had never had a class discussion before college and never seen a word problem in math.

Let me see: You had a Japanes roommate, and from this you were able to deduce that "all their good students come over to go to college." Hmmm. By any chance are you a white guy?
Japanese kids who can't get into Japanese colleges after 2 years of failing entrance exams, then resort to studying English, take the TOEFL, apply to a US college. Los Angeles is the 1st choice because of Japanese-Americans, and most Japanese subsidiaries are headquartered there.

yes, ppl take running seriously there, and unlike in the us, they don't believe in limiting track meets to a heat or 3
who cares. american high schooler parker stinson owned japan's best at the last world juniors. Those two guys had sub 28:30 PR's before the race. They can't hold their own on the big stage no matter how fast their PR's are:

Getting tired of watching the Asian Games and it being a bunch of East Africans, the European Championshipd and a bunch of East Africans, USA championships and ever more East Africans.
