It's impressive, but don't people remember Ritz supposedly ran a 10 mile time trial in 45:03?

It only sounds impressive to letsrunners. To other elite runners it sounds like an easy workout.
Thats equal to about a 60 flat half, its impressive yes, but not suprising.
Ritz's goals for this year were to run World XC, run sub-27 in the 10K, and run the NY Marathon around 2:08.
Then he got injured.
No World XC, no sub-27 in the 10K... and he's not ready for anything under 2:10 this weekend.
big deal. either put out the race results or shut up. workouts mean squat.
Haha... so his workout gets mentioned and you guys decide that you're entitled to better from him???
He's coming off a year of injury and trying to buildup to his goals, so what's with the criticism? I don't think he, himself, was bragging about it...
Let's hope he's back on course and this can be a good year.
I was at Brooklyn in Dathan's senior year when he ran 14:10 for 5k (C.C.). I was at the 2 mile mark and he went by in 8:58. Hard training, good genes (talent), and guts to push hard when it hurts. I turned to a couple older guys standing next to me and we just look at each other and shook our heads.
Translation: Dathan is very, very capable of running a great marathon IF things go his way. Feeling good that day and having good weather are 2 key things. After that, if he's done the work and rested properly, he is as capable as 99.99 percent of the people in the field. Beating Haile, although not impossible, is not likely unless Haile is having a very off day. Regardless, Dathan can have a very great race. Salazar was under 2:08 plus and he had a 5000 pr of 13.11. You guys are nuts.
You piss and moan about no Americans and you get an outstanding American in the race and criticize because he's only run 2:10, or this or that, lay off. How many guys have done 4:32 by 10? Not many.
Yeah, man, you got it right. I wish I could do 1 x 4:32!
hahaha not ready for sub 2:10. good one.
Maybe one should ask WHERE he ran 10x4:32. I'm guessing it was in Albuquerque, which would make it quite impressive.
Can someone tell me what workout we're talking about? I have no idea.
where can i see this workout anyone got a link?
I wouldn't compare it to that time trial, because that was ridiculous. To basically run 59 flat half marathon pace for 10 miles, without race day adrenaline... Maybe too much.
10xmile @ 4:32 is pretty damn good, and within the context of high mileage marathon training with long runs, other workouts, etc, it's plenty.
Salazar was under 2:08 plus and he had a 5000 pr of 13.11.
When did Salazar go under 2:08?

If your calculation is right, then he is near the time that Geb ran for the half where Ritz ran 1:02:35 (plus or minus). Sorry I dont recall the race name. Anyway, it shows significant improvement and puts him in a competitive position to Geb (in theory). So, I hope he has a good showing and gives Geb a real, unexpected test (not to say Geb hasn't been tested).
I heard a rumor that way back in 1975 a guy named Bill Rodgers ran 10 x 2 mile in 9:20-9:25, not sure if it's true, but if it is it's much more impressive than what Ritz did.
Anyone confirm? Hodgie?
Sorry, I meant to say sub 2:09, seriously. His 2:08:13 was readjusted to 2:08:50, or there about. A typo friend, nothing more. Sorry for the error.
Q. Where?
DATHAN RITZENHEIN: Albuquerque. 4:32 miles.

Although I appreciate your call for sourcing here, no imaginable link would consist of anything besides hearsay or a claim by Salazar or Ritz himself (unless someone filmed the session). No, I'm not calling anyone a liar, just sayin' it ain't nuthin' but a thing and it is what it is 'nuff said.
yet another example of why people are completely wrong when not thinking Geb wind NY easily. so, ritz runs 10x mile in 4:whatever with 2 min rest and that's big new. ok - it is, for him. congrats. Geb ran 6x5K in 14:30 on the way to blowing up and running/winning subpar performance Berlin (and breaking the 30K WR in process). he just ran a 59:30 half. and people think that anyone has a chance against him???? NY is won in 2:07 tops. to him that's a jokingly slow pace.
