How does it compare to other lightweight trainers?
If it's anything like their other shoes, it's lightweight, comfortable and pretty cheap. I recommend the adizero tempo too.
Does it run true to size?
Use the Shoefitr, it's pretty damn accurate.
It runs true to size and is a good but not great shoe. I like the Adios a little better for everyday training and racing but my current favorite is the light weight Brooks T6 although I'm not sure if its made for a full marathon. Anything up to half is OK for the T6.
Its a little snug in the forefoot, and not as flexible as the adizero boston I was (not an improvement). It is a good but not great shoe as said previously. (the I was a great shoe)
I can't compare it to other lightweight trainers but I'll give you my feedback.
I think it's a great shoe, for me at least. I went up 1/2 a size because I felt it was tight in the forefoot. Other than that no problems.
The cushioning is a little firmer than some, but I like it. Durable too. I have a pair at about 500 miles that I'm just about to retire. Ordered the special edition version, Adizero Boston Ekiden.
I use it for everything, and it works well.
Certainly not as responsive as training in Rockets or Adios, Mana, etc. The show has a tall feel to it, obviously due to its large heel to toe drop.
The latest revision is fine to mix in, but I simply do not see where the weight is going. For a neutral runner with a solid mid-foot strike, it simply offers little cushioning for the weight.
I wear a 1/2 size smaller in the Boston than the Adios and Rockets, which are my primary trainers.
love them, these are my race shoes up to Marathon
It seems like the feedback on this shoe is so-so. I'm looking for a new lightweight trainer to try, and have narrowed it down to this shoe and the asics speedstar. The speedstar has generally gotten good reviews, so you guys think I should go with asics?
Is there any way for you to try both on?
Go with what feels better.
Another option, if you haven't considered it, is the Mizuno Precision 11. I tried it on briefly and liked it a lot, only reason I didn't buy it was because I'm sort of an adidas loyalist, and didn't really find anything wrong with the Boston >_>
I don't care for them. I am 11.5 in most shoes (Brooks ST Racer, NB 905) but 12 in Adizero Bostons. Width is fine, but length is a bit too long. Sole is too thick and not flexible enough. Laces come undone, as they are old school plain straight cotton. I like the mesh upper however.
My favorite is Brooks ST Racer.
