Hey all,
First off, I'm a slug, not nearly as fleet or genetically gifted as many of you. I get it. You win.
I'm 43 and looking to run around 3:12-3:15 in Chicago and am contemplating wearing a racing flat.
Is it worth it at my level? To perhaps run a minute or three faster?
If I were in my usual shape I'd be shooting for a 3:04 (7:00 pace), but with arrival of my son 6 months ago I have not had much time to train.
I'm 5'9", 150 lbs, training mostly in Asics DS 15s. Relatively neutral footstrike, not heavy on the heels, not a big pronator.
Shoes I'm considering:
Nike Lunaracer 2
Brooks T6 (ran a 1:24 half in the T5, though I understand Brooks doesn't reco them for more than a half)
Saucony Fastwitch 4
Asics DS Racer
Nike Marathoner (if I can find deadstock)
Any insights or experiences with these shoes as well as from other masters in my time range would be GREATLY APPRECIATED.
I thank you in advance,
jp
