Just got mine in the mail today and New Balance may be onto something. Nice snug lightweight shoe with tough sole that clocks in under 7 oz. Anyone hit the trails in them yet?

Yes just got mine a couple days ago. I ran a 5 miler and an 8 today and it was great. Never ran in shoes like them before so well see how I keep up with them. Very cool shoes though.
I want to know how they compare to the 100s. I liked the 100s in theory, but the Achilles/heel area was weird and the forefoot was quite firm.
From what I understand they have changed the shoe a little. I havent ran in the 100's but there is a pretty nice review here

.
I would like to know if others have used these for longer road distance miles. I know a person on runners world that ran a road marathon in them but I would like the feedback.
I had a test pair that had a different sole on them than the ones they're releasing now. They changed the heel area which got rid of the achilles problem. They also changed the upper material but I think I preferred the upper on the 100s.
I've put about 100 miles on them and used them up to 16 miles for a single run. Very comfortable with a great rock plate in the forefoot for rocky trails. I never tried the 100's since I could tell the heel collar would have chewed up my achilles.
As for trying them on the roads I don't see the point. There are plenty of shoes that are much better for the roads than the 101's. Why do a marathon in a trail shoe?
I've put about 500 miles on my 100's. Loved them and never had any issues. Also just raced a 52.4-miler in them and they worked like a dream. Not sure if I prefer the 100's or 101's yet, both are fantastic, we'll see.

I got the 101 a couple weeks ago and have done a bit of trail and road running in them and love them!
i tried it on and the toe box was huge! it felt like a racer to me not like something id train n unless i was doing a wkout on the trail. i did like how the outsole was not very aggressive. i would have like it for a trail racer except for that toe box
Tried them around the store where I work when the New Balance rep came in, was tempted to buy the 100, will be buying the 101s, very excited about the changes.
I have over 100 mountain miles on the new 101s and they are a good shoe.
The old 790s were a lot better then 100s or 101s though.
