With all the data out there on the benefits of barefoot running, I cant help but wonder if Galen Rupp would not be helped by running barefoot.

This is a great question. I think initially his times would come down, but after a few months of having Alberto work with him, in addition to Alan Webb's famed foot massages, I think he would begin to pr.

Salazar had Rupp doing lots of barefoot, resulting in an injury that was barely resolved in time for USA and World Jr. XC and then Oregon outdoor track. Followed by years of insults about Rupp going pro before college, when all he did was enroll in college 6 months late, spending most of it doing water workouts, if any.
He would be better served going barefoot than wearing that nasal strip.

You people realize he PR'ed at every significant distance from the mile on up, in indoors and outdoors this year, right?
Also, Salazar already has Rupp doing a fair amount of barefoot work on grass. He has many of his athletes doing it.
