Results are a little dire with another DNF for poor Anna and Morgan. Shannon nowhere near 3:59...again. :(

Rowbury ran well. What are you complaining about?

Perspective, my good friend. Perspective. :) And I was not complaining, I simply made an observation with a frown.
In other news, Uceny is a powerhouse! She has come into true form this past year and I can't wait until she gets that bit of luck that keeps knocking her out of races...assuming it was bad luck again.
Donohue ran another PR edging closer to Rowbury. This could get heated over the next few years.
I was disappointed to....... even thought I know they were trying their best.

Here is some more perspective with a happy face, Rowbury ran 8:31 for 3k this year :-)

Disappointing for Uceny and Pierce. Rowbury ran well and Donohue ran a personal best which isn't too disappointing.

I suspect Rowbury wouldn't agree since she was third in the world last year. I'm sure she wanted to improve her PR and contend for wins this year and didn't accomplish either. Her 3000 WAS an accomplishment, though, both in time and contending for the win. It might be her future lies in the 5,000.

Would it be possible for Rowbury to contend for a medal at 5000 in both the US and World scene?
Weird how last year the U.S. had 3 women sub-4, and another almost, while this year, a non-championship year, when the races should all be fast, 4:01 is a major barrier, and some are having trouble even getting to the finish line!
I have been trying to push the Rowbury 5k agenda since last summer. She had a good year in 2009 at 1500 meters, her bronze medal speaks for itself, but I can't help wondering if the fact that she was #4 for US women on the time list doesn't say something about her progression in that event.
After her solid outdoor debut at Stanford and then her 3k this summer, I think it is obvious that a jump would best suit her, unless of course Cook has held something else up his sleeve for 2010 and she was simply stronger than quicker, thereby granting her some success now that was designed to pay off elsewhere in 2011 and 2012. There is no doubt in my mind she is capable of sub4 minutes for 1500 meters, but running 8:31 amidst a slew of 4:04-6 and a couple 4:01's reveals better aerobic fitness, especially considering none of those 1500's really saw her "in contention" so to speak.
If you look at the women's 1500 meter races this year, there weren't a lot of opportunities for super fast times. Either the pacemakers didn't do a great job or the the race was slowed down by the athletes with superior kicks (i.e. Langat) despite the pacemaking efforts.
At this level, when you have world class runners line up at 1500 meters and it ends up as a slow tactical race, fast times aren't going to happen and the true kickers are going to prevail. That's why they slow down the pace.
Langat has not broke 4, but she has the best kick in the bunch. She slows down the pace and wins every time. In Paris, where there was a hot pace from the gun, she comes up short.
3:58.93
So with a short track pumped full of oxygen from the trees on the infield and with a wind down the back straight thats worth about 4:10 on a normal track!!!
