It would certainly make them taste a lot better, although it might add some unnecessary weight.

What do you mean by putting waffles into your shoes? I assume you mean screw-in rubber nubs, kind of like a waffle outsole? I don't know, I have never heard of these, but if you have some, spike wells are a pretty standard deal. Not like Nike has some sort of proprietary spike threading that Asics and Adidas don't have.
