Sad so see, was really hoping to see Lagat get it. Hope this isn't the end for him, haven't seen a whole lot out of Lagat this season. Tariku has been surprisingly fit though.

And the 5k indoor.
And the Wanamaker Mile.
You're right, we didn't see much out of him.

AR's doesn't neccesarily mean you are seeing much. Lagat used to be capable of destroying all the AR's at will, he just choose not too.
That said Lagat has run his fastest 1500 since 2006, his outdoor 3k pr, and an outdoor 5k pr. I just think those 3k/5k times are crap for him compared to many of his previous years, which is what the other poster is indicating. 12:54 is nothing. Lagat closed in 51.9 to run 12:59 to beat several years ago, which was a much greater feat.
He's def slipping, and losing a lot.
Cut Bernard some slack. He has been racing since Jan. He peaked earlier in the year, that's all. No one can maintain top form for 8 months.
Son of Bekele strikes again!
Solisnky was only about a second behind Bekele at Zurich. Solinsky could be the very first white man to go sub 7:30. A decent shot at it.
Why doesn't El Guerrouj count again?
That just seem so fast. I still can't believe kennedy ran around 7:30 so many times. 15 straight 30 sec 200s.
I consider El G Arab, didn't know that Arabs were white...?

Wow, really? What about Spaniards? Would you consider them white, or hispanic?

If he were any other American we woud be seeing alot more of him because all the other...i.e., white Americans take longer to finish the races...hence we see more of them. So it's a good thing we ave't seen much of him. That just means he is still the fastest American distance runner ever!
unless i'm mistaken, Tariku has two indoor 3K titles to his name. certainly in strong shape, though 7:28-29 comes out closer to 12;55 i think....regardless, he's basically comfortable @ 60sec all day. no reason that he can't handle 12:50 or better, but of course all depends on consistent 2;32-33 k's, which just doesn't usually happen, hence a lot of mid 12;5x times....but notice that most of them are wins...the guy has mad acceleration, i can attest to that firsthand. his gear change ability is similar to DT's during that final 150m @ Penn DMR....tough to beat, best for tactical finishes, as most DL's have been this year.dude-

Ethiopian "family names" are not actually the family name. They are the name of the person's father. Tariku Bekele is "Tariku, son of Bekele." Kenenisa Bekele is "Kenenisa, son of Bekele."
