LetsRun.com decided today to see how useful twitter can be.
(We bet the LetsRun.com team does not even know there is an unofficial LetsRun.com twitter account @letsrundotcom
http://twitter.com/letsrundotcom
)
We found Bernard Lagat on twitter and saw his tweet from last week on his 3k win in London"
"why did everyone but me think that I was going for the record in London?!? Nobody let me in on that, I guess..."

Lagat is entered in the 3k in Berlin this weekend (the only former Golden League meet that did not join the Diamond League). So we asked him via twitter whether he is going for the 3k record. His reply:
"Yes, if all goes well. I hope to get it. Have been training this season for this race."

So there you have it. The American record is Bob Kennedy's 7:30.84 from 12 years ago. It's 60 seconds a lap for 7.5 laps.
Lagat's best is a 7:32.43 indoors.
