Does anyone have any info about when the Garmin 405 will be replaced? I've googled and haven't found anything. I'm thinking about buying one and don't want to drop the cash if a better model is coming out before then end of the year.

It's been replaced by the 310xt and the 110. The touch bezel in the 405 blows anyway
I like the touch bezel on it. The only time I've had a problem with it is when I get really sweaty or in the rain, but only if I have forgotten to lock it.
I guess I don't have a need to try to scroll through screens when I run, though. I just like to know my time and distance. It works perfectly for those two things.
To answer the OP's question, they also replaced it with a really scaled down watch with a lot less features. I forget the model number, but I do remember that it got poor reviews due to lack of memory or some function of the call-back.
I knew about the new 110, but I didn't realize that was considered an update to the 405 - especially with the reduced feature set.
The touch bezel on the 405 does NOT blow. You should buy the 405 either used or refurb'd(Garmin will cover the warranty for a year). If you buy it used and it breaks Garmin has a max cost to fix of 80 dollars. So if you buy it and save say 150 you're still ahead. The software on the web with garmin connect is very nice and you can download Sportstracks with free plugins to import in for additional info.
I love my 405 and so will you.

Only if you are a man or have huge wrists. I guess garmin believes that only men run. I have a 405 but it doesn't fit unless I put 2 pairs of socks under it, which looks pretty stupid and is also annoying.
Anyone else have any comments?
I can't answer the replacement question but I have had a refurbed 405 since around December and so far I can say I am both happy and disappointed in the unit. It does what it says pretty well but the whole sweat/moisture/bezel issue is just stupid.
Also, the start/stop button and lap button on my watch have gotten kinda sticky. Occasionally the GPS can be a bit wonky as well. Personally, I don't mind the size but I have stopped wearing it for my normal every day runs because it can be too much information.
Garmin comes out with new running models in April/May typically (usually unveiling at the Boston/London expos, with units arriving on shelves in mid-May), so I wouldn't expect anything until then at the earliest.
Timex has a GPS watch releasing on 9/1, it's like a 310XT but cheaper and easier to use (plus it syncs with training peaks, which is better than garmin connect). It is definitely bigger than the 405 (close to 310 sized, but fits many wrists better) though.
Like others, I like the bezel but it can be very touchy if you don't set the sensitivity to 'medium' mode.
As for the "oversize" feel for a female wrist, I think its fine because I like to wear big watches and I have a small wrist. But then again, I wear reading glasses therefore the 405 is awesome for that!
I have the 205 and it works perfectly.

For $20-$30 you can get the velcro wrist strap, should solve any wrist-fit issues. This strap also comes free in the box of 405CX units as well.
Saw both of these tonight at my run club (Garmin came out). The 310xt blows the old 305 away in terms of weight, and the GPS acquisition is lightning fast. Retails for $349 w/o HR monitor or $399 with. The 110 goes for $199/$249, respectively.

Me too. I love it. The 301 was not bad, either, just large and more difficult to read.
