5th or 6th
5th or 6th
Looks like Oregon will have another solid runner to add to their XC roster next year.
Anyone know where that stands for American Juniors? It's gotta be worth something.

Good on Ya, Parker!
"Looks like Oregon will have another solid runner to add to their XC roster next year."
Craps! And just when I thought Oregon might not be so strong this year. So, their XC team will likely be Centrowitz (if he's healthy), Acosta, Puskedra, Stinson, Klotz. Do they have anyone else? Does Fleet run XC?
Got spanked by the Kiwi kid Pulford though. Now THAT kid is legit.
I heard it was 30:56.
Someone needs to do some fact checking.
I was 29:31.
I was there too.
Also, he is a High Schooler!!!
He just graduated in June.
Don't start you KIWI HATE!
30:56 was at the USATF championships in Des Moines.
29:32 was at the WORLD JRS CHAMPIONSHIPS in Canada.
Not a bad improvement for one month!
just so impressive all around. kid was tied for 23rd place going into the race. wish you all could have seen it...a work of art. This young man just went up a huge level. all time highest finish for junior 10k...with the best before being 7th in 1986!!!

Dude go start a thread with his results. Don't be a tool.
The kid improved by over a minute and 20. Pulford is turning 19 next month (24 Aug 91) and Stinson just turned 18 (3 Mar 92). Plus he just got out of high school where they train for the mile and 2 mile.
It was a great run by the Kiwi too!

Improvement? or perhaps it wasn't quite so hot in canada. Don't take this the wrong way, the kid ran great. BOTH times.

Do the Mercados still have eligibility?
Who wants to guess how much faster donner would have run?

gotta crack 29 to make the top 10 juniors
10,000 METERS
28:09.6+ Gerry Lindgren (WaSt) 06/27/65
28:15.52 Galen Rupp (Or) 05/07/05
28:23.75 ----Rupp 07/09/05
28:32.7 Rudy Chapa (InHS) 04/24/76
28:28.8+ Garry Bjorklund (Mn) 06/27/70
28:49.6+ Doug Brown (Tn) 06/18/71
28:50.4 ----Bjorklund 07/09/70
----Bjorklund 07/15/70
28:54.30 Louis Luchini (Stan) 05/05/00
28:55.0 Eric Hulst (CaHS) 03/28/76
That's still a sick run! Not just time wise, but 6th place at WJC? Awesome. Kid's going to add a lot to Oregon.
Parker is a total team player and really brings a lot of positive energy and “gravitas” to the sport! He should do really well at Oregon. They should make him wear the “stash” again though, for his first race!
Be nice if it did not take so f..king long to post results on the IAAF WJC site - is it not 2010!!

So 5th, 6th, or 7th is better than 7th.
Here are the top 6 PBs going into that race.
Paul Kipchumba Lonyangata KEN 28:21.00
Dennis Chepkongin Masai KEN 28:25.00
Suguru Osako JPN 28:35.75
Joseph Chebet UGA 28:37.87
Fuminori Shikata JPN 28:38.46
Mohammed Ahmed CAN 28:57.44
Note 5 men under 28:40 and 6 under 29:00, with the 6th, 28:57.44, being from Wisconsin true freshman Mo Ahmed, who took 4th at NCAAs with that time.
All times are from this year aside from Chebet's, who apparently has no season best (he ran his 28:37 last year).
If he was 6th then either he beat NCAA 4th-placer Ahmed (who was also Big 10 champion) or he beat at least one proven sub-28:40 guy. I'm not sure which would be more impressive... the wild card looking at seed times is the Ugandan Chebet, whose only 2010 performance on iaaf.org is a 5000 PB from March (13:52,
http://www.iaaf.org/athletes/biographies/country=UGA/athcode=250929/index.html
).
We know Ahmed had to have been capable of a faster time than 28:57, he just didn't race much in outdoors. As far as 10ks I think he ran Big 10, regionals, and that's it. UWbadgers.com says Big 10 was his first outdoor race of the season. (http://www.uwbadgers.com/blog/2010/05/ahmed-claims-big-ten-title-in-10k.html) He ran 29:03 there, then 28:57 at NCAAs.
1 Sam Chelanga JR Liberty 28:37.40
2 John Kosgei SR Oklahoma State 28:55.93
3 Jake Riley JR Stanford 28:57.41
4 Mohammed Ahmed FR Wisconsin 28:57.44
Knowing he was 5th or 6th, I'd speculate that he beat Chebet and lost to the other sub-29 guys. But who knows? Well, I would, if the results were posted. But they're not.
Super impressive that he took down at least one of them. I just wish the results would be posted.
They'll be here, when they are:
