Do you honestly think Wheating has done ANYTHING that could even remotely warrant him being included in a field of that caliber? F*** no.

Sure he has.

Agreed. This field is loaded, and Wheating would look very out of place.
Maybe they'll be a "B" mile :)
Actually, there is. They're calling it the "International" mile.

Enlighten us.
Can't really argue for Wheating on his 1500/mile pr, 338/3:58 but his 1:45 800 is better. And meets are always sticking in local talent to get the crowd interested. The Europe meets always seem to reserve a spot for the local guy or woman, who is usually not qualified otherwise.
Look - Wheating can probably run 3:35 - so he is 3 seconds behind a fast winning time - is that such a big deal? I think it is close enough, and good for the sport.

Well, David Torrence and Dorian Ulrey actually have run 3:35, so they should be added too.
I would love to see Wheating try to sit and kick the last 200 against these guys.
I guess being an olympian isn't worth much these days

Not for an American 800 olympian going against the best 1500/milers in the world. There is no argument you can make for Wheating on an international 1500 level that would ever warrant him being added to this field. In a year or two when he has been pro and busts some fast times as I am sure he will, yeah he'll be in this field. This year, no way, he doesn't deserve it YET.

So no Wheating in the Bowerman mile, at least. That's a pretty damn good field, what with the top 4 finishers from Worlds last year.
Yeah, a guy who blows people away at regionals in his 4th race in 3 days and cruises in with 3:37 has no chance in this field.
Wheating ran 3:37 twice this season, once very early and winning by a large margin and the 2nd by just running thru regionals and cruising in, again by a large margin win.
He's 1:45 flat for 800, how about the rest of the field?
In case you just woke up to running, comparing Wheatings lifetime bests at 1500 with guys who race meets like the diamond league circuit is pretty much worthless.
Ulrey has run 3:35 in Europe and Wheating rolled him up with ease on the DMR mile indoors.
Lets remember the last time people said Wheating couldn't do something at Hayward Field.
he could run 3:32/3 this year the way he has destroyed 3:35 guys. but is he done for the year?
Wonder what the pacers are going to g through in. That's a stellar field! Hope it's a good fast race.
is Leo going go to the front and not let anyone past him again? I really like when he does that.
The rabbit has run 3.33 already this year!
Wow! And a 3:49 mile in Oslo.
