Subject is pretty self-explanatory. Looking for some insight from any similar experiences. Already have $150 on the table. May be close to $500 once race day rolls around. Road course that is pretty tough have about 2 months to prepare.

You better do the run part first. Or is the bet that you eat first then run the 10k. Does it all have to be done under an hour or just the 10k? You better do the run first. If you accomplish eating and then ruunning in under an hour you are a god. Not THE god, just A god.
The bet is only to do both in one hour, it is up to me how to go about it.
I will add 10 bucks to the pot if you do the big macs first
This doesn't sound that difficult to be honest. If you can run a relaxed 6 minute pace, you'll still have around 23 minutes to take down the burgers.
I think I could finish a 10k in 36 without being tired enough to need any real recovery between the run and the eating.
It is disgusting, however.
My first question is this: can you eat 6 Big Macs in an hour? I don't think I could stomach that much crap in that short of time.
My advice: figure out how long it takes you to eat the 6 Big Macs. Run as easy as you possibly can and allow yourself a few extra minutes to eat them.
This is a great challenge. I think you can do it. If I was in any sort of shape, I'd think I could do it too. I agree with the 6 minute mile plan.
Let's dissect these burgers for a moment. We're talking 12 patties. Each patty is 1/10 of a pound. So 1.2 pounds of greasy beef. 18 buns. This is tough too. Vegetables and sauce are not a factor, IMO.
I think you can do it. You'll just have to nut up.
I think I could eat 6 in an hour, however it wont be pretty. This bet was just conceived about an hour ago so I'm still thinking it through. I think 4 Big Macs would be a gimme, 5 makes me nervous, 6 I'm just going to have to try and man up.
You should take one as fuel at every mile marker.
Why don't you jog a 10k while eating the big macs at the same time? You'll be done with the big macs by 45-50 minutes, that gives you 10 minutes to 'pick it up' if you need too.
Yeah that's how the bet came about, one every mile. But then as we discussed how difficult it would be we decided I could go about it however I wanted.
Doesn't seem too bad. I know I could eat the burgers (although I would probably never do something like this) and I could definitely do the 10k. So, I would start out walking while eating 6 burgers, and then start running once you're finished. You should have gone about a mile during that time. Or you could do this with 3, and then finish the 10k and chow down the other 3 when you're finished. Or you could just run an all-out 10k and then eat the burgers. You might throw up, though. I probably wouldn't because barely anything makes me sick to my stomach, but I would not feel good.
The truth is... Big Macs are not that big at all. I could eat one in probably 6 bites easily.
Cearly the best way to do this is to do the run first.
This makes the transition area and timing pretty important.
You want the Big Macs to be hot - they will be more delicious that way. You'll need a buddy to help you with the timing.
Basically, I would park your car nearby to the finish line. As soon as you finish the race, keep running to the car and start eating as soon as you can.
Say you run about 32 minutes, and spend about 3 minutes getting to the car where the Big Macs await.
That gives you 25 minutes to eat 6 Big Macs, or about 4 minutes a Big Mac with 1 minute to spare.
This is going to be very close. Every minute is important, so if you can get your transition time down to about 1.5 minutes you'll have a better chance.
My belief is that you have to be eating with 25 minutes to go or you won't do it.
If you're a 36 minute 10ker...I think you might be screwed - unless you can eat the f*** outta some Big Macs.
I'm more along the lines of a 36 min 10k. I ran in college but its been a few since then. It was decided I can have a co-worker run next to me with his stroller with the Big Macs and water in tow.

6 bites is practically leisurely for today's big macs. In 9th grade, on a field trip, we all made a bet about eating a big mac in a single bite. It happened. I watched the guy do it. One of my best friends ate a freakin big mac in one bite. Of course, it took him 15 min to chew that bite and swallow it, but it happened. hahahaha great memory.
I think "Surprise!" nailed the key point. If those babies get cold, you have no shot. If you have some guy with burgers in a stroller at the start of the run, they will be at least an hour cold by the time you eat them. That is a recipe for disaster and vomitus. Nothing worse than a glob of cold congealed cheese fat and 'special sauce'.
Can you arrange to finish the run at the McDs? You should have 3 fresh Big Macs ready so they are still hot at your arrival. Have your faithful minion order the next 3 while you start your feast. (Make sure they are not to busy so that you get optimal turnaround time from the staff.) This way the last few will still be warm.
I don't think eating the 6 Big Macs all at once is a great idea. I would scarf down 3 Biggies and then run 10k. Then eat the final three with whatever time you have left. I'm guessing that after 35-40 minutes of running you'll be able to take down three more burgers fairly easily, provided you aren't too winded. That would be my problem with this bet. Trying to stuff my face while I'm winded. Running a 40 min 10k would take some real effort on my part.
You should do a "Galloway" 10K. Run a 7-minute mile, then walk 150 meters or so while eating a Big Mac, then repeat until you are done.

I agree, I think this may be my best approach. Another thing to consider, this race is at 7:45 in the morning. Lunch menue isnt served until 11 so we will have to purchase these the night before and heat them up the morning of. You never know though. Maybe I could get a local McDonalds sponsorship and have a special 7 a.m. order.
