Look, all I want is some decent running apparel and a good selection of shoes. I live in a major city (Atlanta) with a long running tradition. You would think that there would be a good running store around here, but there isn't from what I've seen.
I want a store that carries a good selection of racing flats. How about that? Peachtree is coming up soon, is everyone going to be wearing bulky trainers? Really? Where's the Nike Mayfly? The Asics Piranha? The Nike Zoom Streak III? The Nike Free 3.0 (not technically a racing flat, but still...)? The Adidas Adizero? You have the Brooks Green Silence, but not in a 10.5 or 11? WTF man?
OK, you actually have a few singlets, that's good. I mean you have half a dozen to choose from, which is 6 more than what Footlocker has to offer. And you have a few track/XC shoes. Congratulations. You have a couple of split shorts to choose from. Yeah. Mostly you carry "technical" t's, those horrid sleeveless things, and shorts that come to my knees. Attention running store owners: not everyone who runs wants to look like a knobby-kneed goon waddler on his or her lunch break. Some people like to actually run.
And when I tell you I run 100 miles a week (you asked) in lightweight shoes, try to act like you've heard of that before. This is a running store, it's not that big of a deal. You're still better than that Footlocker guy who wants to put me in those Under Armor shoes. Footlocker guy knows nothing about running, but I expect more from you.
And what's with the whole fake gait analysis/fitting thing anyway. It's about as scientific and well-informed as a fortune-teller or a palm reader. You don't know what you're doing.
And please drop the attitude, please, pretty please. Your head is so full of marketing propaganda and Runner's World nonsense (the same thing?) that whatever comes out of your mouth makes no sense at all.
Look, I don't want to order from Eastbay (I like to try on shoes before I buy them) but you've left me with no choice.
