I've had a pair of Nike Frees for years now. I run in them about once a week on average. No visible signs of wear. Do I need a new pair?

No, they just keep becoming more and more minimal.
The ones I've had have worn out more rapidly than most shoes. The rubber wears down quickly, and I get tears in the upper. I still like them, though.
running once a week = about 250 miles per year?
Don't most guys here run like 250 miles in a month?

I run in the Frees about once a week. The other 5 or 6 or 7 or 8 times, I use other shoes.
I run in my at least 2-3x a week and I love them.
I used to run in them, but the upper on the outside of the foot would always tear within about 4-6 weeks. Granted that's probably around 400 miles which is supposedly when you're supposed to change them anyways, but it seems like they'd fall apart frustratingly quickly. On the other hand, I've put probably close to a thousand miles on a pair of mizuno ronins with almost no signs of wear.
The sides on mine tore about 800 miles in, but who cares? It's just ventilation. They're almost bad enough that I can't run in them now, but I'm hoping they hold on to 2k miles.
If you ran in the original frees, I think they updated them somewhat later on to make them last longer.
Wow, I am quite impressed of how long they have lasted for you. I have probably put in about little over 100 miles in them thus far, good to know they last that long and mine are the latest version.
For some reason nike frees begin to smell like crap very soon
Barefeet stink
Vibrams are actually more comfortable.
I run all of my mileage in my Nike Frees and I probably average 70 miles per week. I just finished a 100+-mile week in them. They only thing that wears out is the mesh that connects the body to the sole of the shoe.
