From a business standpoint, do you think the company UnderArmour will ever successfully tap into the serious runners like us and/or elite running market?

Lol good question. Why is it that everyone I know who wears it kinda sucks at running?
Who is the fastest guy you've ever met who trains in underarmour shoes and wears lots of underarmour?
From what I have seen of their products, the short answer is NO.

This matches my opinion of Vibram 5 fingers
The 5 fingers crowd can still be somewhat fast/decent/serious, maybe the elite runners don't wear them(because they aren't paid to) but some serious (maybe somewhat yuppie) endurance people who want minimalist might.
Now underarmour imo is a whole different story/ballgame/animal altogether. The underarmour crowd is mostly cold weather gear for football, baseball, people who use strength shoes (claim to make you jump 6inches higher), frat boys, excessive bicep curls and poor aerobic fitness types, and let's not forget, crossfit types!!! Its located throughout the eastbay catalogs on these pages for the main sports and at places like sports authority. I like eastbay though don't get me wrong. Its just the underarmour is usually near the football cleats and that kinda stuff in their catalogs (correct me if I'm wrong)
Interesting that you mention eastbay. It appears they have removed spikes from their printed catalog altogether - you have to go online now to find them (not that I buy from them anyway). Guess they've been bumped out by UA trainers.

Because is it is cheap and plentiful at big-box sporting goods stores (such as Dick's).
How come this board knocks Nike constantly and wishes for something better yet when a new company enters and makes a first attempt they are also mocked.
Oh right...thats what people on here do with any topic.
Under Armor is pretty serious about marketing products to the elite athletes of a sport and letting it trickle down (how they did with football/trying to do with basketball). There are a bunch of ex D1 runners working there and I don't doubt that they'll get their running shoes right sooner rather than later.
I am using Under Armour products for the first time in my life, the "recharge" compression socks (black of course) on my intervals and long runs and I love them. I should've bought more pairs of them while I was in the USA.
I also have the silver colored "recharge" tights that I wear almost everyday after training and they are helpful for recovery. I don't wear the tights during training. At the age of 41 I need all the help with recovery that I can get.
I don't consider myself "elite" with PR's of 2:18, 1:05, 48:24 and 28:36.
I am training very hard now and yes the Under Armour products
are good. I have not tried the shoes. When they make a real race flat then maybe.
Jason
A Freshman on my Track/CC team wears underarmor trainers..He's a pretty good freshmen too..9:40 2 mile...maybe into the 9:30's, I don't remember.
No. Have they tapped into the "serious/elite athlete" market in any other sport?

Except you're dead wrong.

What am I dead wrong about?
I can't wait to hear your ill informed opinion.
Which top players and teams do they have endorsement deals with? I'm talking about top 10 NCAA teams, playoff NFL teams, top 5 per position NFL players. I've only seen marginal big conference teams (i.e. Vandy) in UnderArmour.

First thing that popped on google so I'm sure there are more. (Matt Weiters is one that comes to mind)

Show me how they are "pretty serious about marketing products to the elite athletes of a sport and letting it trickle down."
As pointed out above, there are no truly elite football players with UA endorsements. Same goes in basketball and baseball. UA is fitness gear, not performance gear.

Read a basic history of the formation of the company and get back to me so you stop making a fool of yourself.
