Looking for a good shoe with a low heel to help me transition between my old stability, motion control trainers to my Vibram Five Fingers.
Name some good ones that are light with a low heel and all that.

Probably not minimalist enough for you, but I just got a pair of Adizero Tempos - they feel much lighter and lower than what I was used to. Maybe they could serve some transition role.
Saucony Kinvara
Mizuno Wave Universe 3
Asics Gel Hyper Speed 4
Adidas Adizero Pro
(FWIW, I ran for a while in VFFs -- I'm back to flats).
Asics Piranha
A great transition shoe is the Mizuno Wave Musha 2. It has a low heel:forefoot ratio, but offers some cushion and stabilization. If your objective is to run in Vibram, then, the Musha would be a great halfway point.
The Mizuno looks like it has a pretty high heel. Is the picture misleading?
"Adidas Mana"!!!...the sweetest shoe out there!...I run barefoot twice a week and the "Mana" fits perfect into my type of training!......good luck!
you might also rty the "Zoot Ultra Speed"

the adidas mana looks cool. any second opinions out there?
The plastic bar across the bottom hurt my feet and ankles. I wouldn't really call them minimalist, either.
I don't have them, but I know someone who just got the Saucony Kinvara, which Saucony is promoting. It's light and has a 4mm heel to toe drop. Saucony has dramatically cut the heel-drop for its flat as well (from 12 (A3) to 4 (A4)), so this may be a trend.

The Mana is a great shoe, but they are not neutral or minimal. Just because they are ~8 oz. doesn't make them minimal.
The Musha, I assume that's the one you're asking about, doesn't have a really high heel. I think it's comparable to the Hyperspeed in that regard.
The Asics Pirannha and Mizuno Wave Universe have the lowest heels of any current shoes I know but are really expensive for what you get. If you want to go the "retro" route the Saucony Bullet is around, Zappos has them. They're low heeled, light and cheap. The Adzero Rocket is low heeled but not as much as the ones I mentioned rpeviously and the Nike Kantana has a low heel. I'm not sure if that's still available though.

I don't think so - but the Streak 3 is pretty low.
Tried on the Kinvara today - pretty nice shoe. For me, Saucony's fit really well, enough room in the forefoot - compared to The Adidas Mana or Nike Lunaracer or Asics Bandito (DS Racer).
How about these?

Nike Free:
I currently run in Brooks Defyance 2. Should I just continue using those in conjunction with the VFFs, or would one of the above 3 be a good supplement to the VFFs and for longer runs and such. I am trying to transition to running on my forefoot.
I run in these:

or
Nike Zoom Streak XC 2:

Both great shoes if you want minimalistic ones.
FWIW, in the Adidas Adizero line, I believe the Pro and the Rocket have the lowest heel. The pro is not much shoe at all, whereas the Rocket ought to last a bit longer and feels like a real shoe to me. I have both of those but run mostly in the Adizero Adios. It has more of a heel-to-toe drop, since that's what Geb asked them for, but it doesn't bother me at all. It's flexible, light, and durable enough for me. (42 year old, 6'0", 150lb.)
Why not just switch strait to Vibrams? I ran in heavy Brooks with a high heel and switched to Vibrams with no intermediary. I'm up to 10 miles now and it's only been 4 months.
