0.4 headwind
0.4 headwind
that sucks
wow!!!
Tyson Gay’s splits en route to his 19.41 200m:
9.88 100m
14.41 150m
19.41 200m
His last 100m split was 9.53.

Wow!!! Awesome job, Tyson!
Bolt would be sub-19.00 no problem.

Kill yourself
Gay ran 19.41 seconds into a headwind Sunday on a specially constructed track in Manchester, England, shaving 0.09 off the mark Tommie Smith set in May 1966 at San Jose, Calif.
Smith was at the Great City Games to watch Gay beat his time, which isn't an official world record because track and field's governing body only recognizes 200s run around a curve.
and, well, because someone else has run 19.19 AROUND A CURVE.
but, seriously, awesome run by Gay.
Bolt ran a 14.45 150m on the same track last year.

14.35.
Still, Tyson's 14.41 split is very impressive.
Found the video - http://www.runnerspace.com/video.php?do=view&video_id=26292 he would have been close to Bolt last year.
You are welcome@

But let's not forget that Smith's time was a hand time. At least Gay's was electronic and more accurate. Based on Gay's 150 split, a later season run might have yielded a time closer to 19.25. Goes to show how impressive Bolt's times are. But at least Gay is making up ground
lets make some things very clear for some of the idiots in this thread.
the 100m en route times convert as such:
Bolt 2009 (from 150m) 9.91 +1.1w = 9.96 basic
Gay 2010 (from 200m) 9.88 -0.4w = 9.85 basic
THEY RAN ON THE SAME TRACK, AT THE SAME TIME OF YEAR.
for 200m Bolt just ran 19.56 -0.8w which = 19.50 basic
the bend takes away a tenth off 200 times, so, on a bend..
Gay 200m 19.41 -0.4w = 19.38 +0.1 = 19.48 basic
Usain Bolt slightly has higher top end speed as evidenced by the "flying 100" splits (8.70 vs. 8.72)
BUT TYSON GAY IS AHEAD OF THE PACE THAT USAIN BOLT SET LAST YEAR.. IN BOTH 100M AND 200M.

WHAT? 9.96 to 9.85?, what are you smoking dude? no way that makes sense. Bolt > Gay, get over yourself.
Bolt had a tailwind, Gay had a headwind.
I think Gay will run under 9.65 and under MJ's 200m WR, but I think Bolt will get near 9.50 and under 19.10.
Bolt had +0.0/+0.1 for 100, and +1.1 for 150 so his 9.91 stays.
What, don't know about that 9.85 but whatever I can't be bothered to check.
The bend issue, what you on about. bend takes .25 at least I think point .3 so you're wrong there.
The 200 adjustment is twice as large as for a 100, so if 9.88-> 9.85, 19.41-> 19.35 (+/-0.01 from rounding). '
The curve is much more than 0.10, probably twice that or more.
